Men Are Smarter than Women

It is research that is guaranteed to delight men - and infuriate the women in their lives. A controversial new study has claimed that men really are more intelligent than women. The study - carried out by a man - concluded that men's IQs are almost four points higher than women's. British-born researcher John Philippe Rushton, who previously created a furore by suggesting intelligence is influenced by race, says the finding could explain why so few women make it to the top in the workplace. He claims the 'glass ceiling' phenomenon is probably due to inferior intelligence, rather than discrimination or lack of opportunity. The University of Western Ontario psychologist ...

Our education system has gone to hell. It’s my idea from now on to stop spending money educating children who are sixteen years old. We should put all that money down into kindergarten. Young children have to be taught how to read and write. If children went into the first grade knowing how to read and write, we’d be set for the future, wouldn’t we? We must not let them go into the fourth and fifth grades not knowing how to read. So we must put out books with educational pictures, or use comics to teach children how to read. When I was five years old, my aunt gave me a copy of a book of wonderful fairy tales called Once Upon a Time, and the first fairy tale in the book is ...

Thomas Edison Predictions for The year 2011.

100 years ago, the Miami Metropolis newspaper published Thomas Edison's musings on the far-off future of 2011. According to the famed inventor, we should be driving around in solid gold taxis. What will the world be a hundred years hence? None but a wizard dare raise the curtain and disclose the secrets of the future; and what wizard can do it with so sure a hand as Mr. Thomas Alva Edison, who has wrested so many secrets from jealous Nature? He alone of all men who live has the necessary courage and gift of foresight, and he has not shrunk from the venture. Already, Mr. Edison tells us, the steam engine is emitting its last gasps. A century hence it will be as remote as antiquity as the ...

New Horse-Racing Initiative Aimed At Training Thoroughbreds From Inner City COMPTON, CA—In an effort to develop a more diverse base of athletic talent, raise the sport's profile in nontraditional areas, and enrich the lives of troubled youth, thoroughbred-racing organizations are funding a new program to train inner-city and delinquent horses. The initiative, known as Right Side of the Track, is opening 12 "Colts & Fillies Clubs" in impoverished urban locales across the country, and already has four operational centers in Detroit, Baltimore, Birmingham, and St. Louis. According to organizers, the facilities will provide at-risk yearlings and disadvantaged foals with ...

MY KIND OF WISDOM IN A VERY SHORT SENTENCE

MY KIND OF WISDOM IN A VERY SHORT SENTENCE This next year, both 'Groundhog Day' and the 'State of the Union' address occur on the same day. As Air America Radio pointed out.... "It is an ironic juxtaposition of events; one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog."

My Old Kentucky Home: Travels in Kentucky and Tennessee

Remember Kentucky? and Tennessee? They actually exist. And for those old enough to remember the movie Deliverance, do you remember the hillbillies/cretins delivered to you by the people who run Hollywood? Well, let me provide a wee bit of counter-balance to the propaganda of an area that is part of America’s Heartland. Ever been addressed at an airport by a ticket-agent as “sweetheart”…ever had men almost as solicitous and friendly…. around the Left Coast (I hear you thinking about the East Coast)? Huh? Surplus smiles…Kentucky must figure in Robert Putnam’s study on diversity, in which diverse communities were found to be miserable…all races. ...

SEC Investigation Reveals Goldman Sachs Engaged in Deceit, Firm Proudly States That Deceit Is Just the “Tip of the Iceberg” The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) went after Goldman Sachs with guns a-blazing in April charging that the firm and one employee, Fabrice “Fabulous Fab” Tourre, knowingly marketed, sold and then bet against billions of dollars in debt securities that the bank knew were overvalued reaping hundreds of millions in profits. Earlier this month, Goldman and the SEC reached a settlement agreement (via LA Times). Goldman agreed to pay $550 million to resolve allegations that the company misled investors who bought subprime mortgage-related ...

Friday, July 2, 2010 By Mike LaSalle “All men are rapists” –Marilyn French “Marriage. Children. You never expect it to end in tragedy. Unless you’re me.” –Dexter Morgan On Sunday, December 13, 2009, 2.6 million television viewers turned on Showtime to watch the season 4 finale of Dexter. According to the Hollywood Reporter, it “was the most-watched original series episode ever on the network, and the most watched telecast since a Mike Tyson fight in 1999.” If you haven’t seen the show, watching Dexter for the first time is a little bit like having your first cigarette, or that first taste of gin when you were 15. It’s sickening. ...

Alexandr Solzhenitsyn's “The 1920s.” Chapter 18 of 200 Years Together

The English translation of Chapter 18 of 200 Years Together, “The 1920s” is now available. (See here, and notice the link requesting donations.) It has a very different feel from Chapter 20, on the Gulag. Whereas Solzhenitsyn’s account of the Gulag stresses his own experiences, this chapter relies on a wide range of academic historical writing to paint his picture of the USSR during the critical decade of the 1920s. His account is therefore based on mainstream scholarship and overall is similar to other accounts, such as Yuri Slezkine’s The Jewish Century. However, it goes beyond other accounts in several important ways and provides a great deal of new information for ...

The single greatest force shaping our age is unquestionably globalization. Based on the transnationalization of American capital and the worldwide imposition of American market relations combined with new technologies, globalization has not only reshaped the world's national economies, it's provoked a dizzying array of oppositional movements, on the right and the left, that, despite their divergent ideologies and goals, seek to defend native or traditional identities from the market's ethnocidal effects. In the vast literature on globalization and its various antiglobalist movements, Charles Lindholm's and José Pedro Zúquete's The Struggle for the World ...

Oh god, the endless, thumping, hope-draining, drab, repetitive soul-crushing tiresomeness of it. I find in Psychology Today a piece called “Ten Politically Incorrect Truths about Human Nature,” explaining various aspects of behavior in Darwinian terms.* The smugness of that “politically incorrect” is characteristic of those who want a sense of adventure without risk. Nothing is more PC than an evolutionary explanation, unless it explains obvious racial differences that we aren’t supposed to talk about. OK, the authors are going to explain why we mate as we do. “Blue-eyed people,” they write, “are considered attractive as potential mates because it ...
