December 5. 2012 - Jazz musician Dave Brubeck died Wednesday morning at Norwalk Hospital, in Norwalk, Conn., his longtime manager-producer-conductor Russell Gloyd tells the Chicago Tribune. Brubeck, who would have turned 92 on Thursday, died of heart failure, en route to "a regular treatment with his cardiologist," said Gloyd. “Thank you, thank you very much!” That’s what the folks at Antiquorum Auctioneers might be saying today to the private collector who acquired the showcase piece at this week’s auction in New York, an Omega Constellation once owned by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley. The watch sold for an astounding $52,500, five times its pre-sale estimate and a world record for that reference. Elvis’s Omega, a rare, black-dialed Constellation Calendar produced around 1960, was the most high-profile of 269 timepieces on the block at Antiquorum’s “Important Vintage and Modern Timepieces” auction, held at its Manhattan headquarters on June 12. The ...

this middle-aged woman came marching past my barstool, and she looked displeased with something, maybe with me, since i was staring at her tits, which were encased in a tight white sweater and bullet-proof bra and reminded me of a 55 buick. i got some kind of mental wave from her, disgust mainly, that nearly knoocked me off my stool. what the hell was that about?

Newly unearthed State Department documents confirm for the first time Uncle Sam's belief that the Abominable Snowman roamed the mountains of Nepal in the 1950s, a finding that has shocked federal officials including the archivist who discovered the papers. Long written off as a myth—it was never caught or photographed—the documents provided by the National Archives show that officials in the State Department, Foreign Service, and U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal, not only believed in "Yeti," but endorsed rules for American expeditions to follow when hunting the toothy monster down. "There are, at present, three regulations applicable only to expeditions ...

April 14, 2011 —NASA astronaut and accomplished flautist Col. Catherine Coleman joined rock legend Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull in the first-ever Space Flute Duet last week in honor of Yuri Gagarin’s historic space flight 50 years ago. Coleman, who is stationed on the International Space Station, broke into an arrangement of Bach’s Bourrée in E minor, which was also on Tull’s 1969 album, Stand Up. A video of the cosmic mash-up was posted earlier this week showing Coleman playing in ISS weightlessness 220 miles above Earth. Anderson joins mid-verse, playing from Perm, Russia. “Thanks Col.
