Oliver

April 2, 1989 - September 29, 2009

You blessed our lives for 20 years, were always a joy, and the "best boy that ever lived." We loved you with all our hearts. We will miss you more than words can express.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, christine.

Animals are greater friends than human oft times.

Every time I take an attachment to a pet, I know I'm letting myself in for the inevitable.

Another little buddy will come wandering by once a decent interval has passed, I'm sure.

"Twenty years for a house cat is really good...."

"Today cats live longer than ever. Just 20 years ago the life expectancy of a cat was four to six years; today they live 15 years or more. Life expectancy in cats depends on many things, but the most important factor is whether he is an indoor-only cat or an outdoor cat. Life expectancy varies significantly between the two.....Indoor cats generally live from 12-18 years of age. Many may live to be in their early 20s. The oldest reported cat was 28 years old at the time of death.....Outdoor cats generally live to be around four to five years of age. Their deaths are typically due to traumas such as being hit by a car or dog attacks. Outdoor cats are also more susceptible to several deadly viruses that are spread by fighting or prolonged intimate contact with an infected cat."

Oh, the pain, the loss ! Christine, I'm sure sorry. I went from being foolishly disdainful of cats to having one walk into my life and directly into my heart. Such magnificent loves they are.....Miss Bitty passed away 2 years ago and, finally, I'm ready to turn myself over to another. Thankfully, the pain lessens and the memories sustain. Good grief, who whizzed in your Wheaties this morning? Christine has just suffered a very painful loss of a good pet and companion for the last twenty years. What the heck is wrong with you?

Normally I'd suggest contacting the charm school you attended and demand a refund, but in your case I think it would be more appropriate to sue them for malpractice...

In defense of Bucky, aka "US_GRANT," he must be in great pain himself to have made his (ahem) comment...

Then again some people resent grief over pets or animals that they believe should be reserved only for humans - maybe that was the case as well.

FWIW, I don't believe you meant what you said, Buck.

"If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute." --Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791

Oliver was family, only nicer. He gave you both unconditional love and unless someone experiences that, it can't be explained adequately. Having lost the best Golden Retriever god ever put on this planet, I can empathize with you and Bill. Today will be the worst day you experience, as time is the only remedy for the pain you feel. Nobody knows the time or place when the end comes, but Oliver left today at home with his family present. That will comfort you as the weeks turn to months. Peace Oliver, and say hello for Cody for me.

That's just wrong...and I've never owned a cat.

I don't know "what is wrong" about my post other than cats piss and shit all over property. They stink and are not clean. And, like yourself, I have never owned any and wouldn't consider ownership except to send them to China where cats are used as a daily human diet.

It was completely inappropriate. If that is the only comment you could possibly cough up, you would be more humane to simply opt not to post at all on the topic. You are not ignorant, buckaroo.

Honestly, if you are that devoid of compassion, I truly pity you.
