WASHINGTON -- The last presidential election took place barely 11 months ago, but a new poll shows former Arkansas governor and Southern Baptist pastor Mike Huckabee leading a field of Republican candidates for the 2012 GOP nomination.
The Rasmussen survey of 750 Republican voters conducted Oct. 15 shows Huckabee at 29 percent, Mitt Romney 24 percent, Sarah Palin 18 percent and Newt Gingrich 14 percent. Huckabee also beats Romney and Palin in head-to-head matchups, edging Romney 44-39 percent and Palin 55-35 percent.
Although 2012 is still three years away, campaigning and fundraising for the GOP nomination will begin much sooner. The first debates will take place in 2011, several months after next year's mid-term elections.
Huckabee won eight states during his bid for the 2008 Republican nomination and finished second in delegate count. He's currently the host of his own show on Fox News, "Huckabee," which consistently is the top show in its time slot against other cable news programming.
He was governor of Arkansas for 10 years. Prior to his political career he served as pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Ark., and Beech Street Baptist Church in Texarkana, Ark. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Subscribe to *Sarah Palin 2012*

Traficant is a far leftist. He may be an honest man (I think it's a safe bet), but his political philosophy makes me gag. If I'm going to vote for somebody, I want somebody who will represent my desire that the country be governed in the manner it was founded to be governed in. I never get that vibe from the far left, ever.

Holy crap! Traficant may be a far lefty in your book but he is way farther right than those who claim to be conservative. Ya better google in Traficant's name and watch those 1 minute attacks he had done on the house floor. If you still think he is a leftie, call funk & Wagnals and tell them you want the definition of a lefty changed.
Traficant has fought big government every step of the way. Maybe it's just that you are a rich kid who can't stand the average guy win anything against big government, big banks, big business, and corrupt politicans. I guess you never heard Traficant call his fellow congress critters whores or watched him fight the IRS.

I live in Ohio, I know Traficant, and I know his positions. I don't mind his take on the Fed, or cutting support for Israel, but otherwise, he's a left winger and thanks, but no thanks.

Well I live in PA 17 miles from Ohio and lesws than an hour from Youngstown. I've followed Jim Traficant from the time he was the Quarterback at Pitt. I've met Jim and spent quite a bit of time with him discussing various problems we face.
I know he is a champion of the little guy and wouldn't evict people who's homes were being foreclosed. He went to jail as Mahoning county sherrif defying a judge.
It just dawned on me. Your grandpa comes from west virginia, the state whose incestuous voters have repeated voted Robert" PORK" Byrd to office for over 50 years and also given us Jay Rockefeller who is a CFR/Neo-con suckass liberal. Now those two fit your definition.

You don't deal well with people who disagree with you on anything do you? Calling names and slurring families may work for you, but they don't a lot to bolster your position. If anything, it makes me suspect that I'm on the right track in my own thinking. If Trafficant supporters take to screaming out insults as a first line of defense, then he can't be that solid.
Others can and do defend him without the vile sneering and insults. Maybe you can learn from them.

I see I got a little close. I also see you brought the west by god virginia political savvy to Ohio when your family moved there. You transplanted west virginia, now ohio voter have given us Marc Dann, Ken Blackwell of black box voter fraud fame that gave us 4 more years of dubya, and Mike DeWine who's only bill he ever introduced was to make the butterfly the state bird of ohio or something like that.
