The host site at http://www.inetebiz.com/ will soon act on the fact LP is a hate site, uses perveerted language and images and members advocating the violent overthrow of the government, promoting racism, etc.

No ISP that would want to be associated with that.

I am getting this website banned from public access computers like in libraries because of it.

There are workarounds for that problem. If that ever happens to forum, we can fix it. :)

I dunno about workarounds or reacharounds or whatever, and I don't spend much time in libraries.

It just makes you wonder about other venues certain posters might rat a forum out.

I was researching ways to encrypt websites and discovered software that does that with the side benefit that it also defeats website blocking software. It's cheap enough. I would donate it to forum if it were needed.

I think the time for encryption is well overdue. It's well established that the feds are snooping into everything everywhere, and unlike the old days when basic telephone calls were considered a private communications medium even though they were not the least bit encrypted, courts now claim that digital communications are NOT afforded the same rights.

At this point, all internet traffic should be encrypted. It's as simple as that.

I'll donate the encryption software that I found if you can make it work with the 4um. Not that it is very expensive... maybe $45 for a one site license.

Encrypting the site is no big deal. I could do that for no cost except that everyone would have security warnings on their browsers they'd have to click through to get to the site. Avoiding that requires registering the encryption, and the cost for that is coming down.

What's the software you're referring to?

Hey, if you really are Neill, isn't there something to pull the plug on LP once and for all, or did you sign away all rights?

If I pulled the plug on LP, what would we have to talk about around here?

On a serious note, I don't think I'd have any legal say about shutting LP. Too much time has gone by and I've put the software in the public domain.

But what purpose would closing it down serve anyway? Would it make anyone smarter or more free? Would in restore any rights? I don't think so. I don't think it would change anything.

I suppose I'll have to concede the point. People like yukon, byeltsin, Mad Dog, Marguerite, BobCeleste, et al, should not have a voice at the table of reason, (and one could certainly make the strong argument that LP is not) but even if you shut it down, their stupidity would just migrate elsewhere.

After all, I'm sure that somewhere out in cyberspace, that loon TLBShow is still posting.

Samuel, if you truly believe in free speech than you believe in that right for ALL, even when you disagree or do not like what they have to say.

People have a first amendment right to spew stupidity and I, for one, will stand up for their rights along side those whom I like what they have to say.

Philosophically, I agree with you. Practically speaking, there are those whose words actually detract from the body of accumulated human knowledge.

My "pick of the week" is BobCeleste, a true fundie nutball moron. He is shamelessly clueless in the service of his God, and does not wish to learn anything that may conflict with that 'worldview.'

Worse than that, he doesn't even think he needs to. Voices like his are not worthy of the platform they are given, oftentimes.

I can't disagree with that, Sam. However, every time they spew idiocy it offers an opportunity to shed some real light on subjects. That's the beauty of discourse, each spewing offers an opportunity to expand human knowledge that would not present itself had the right to spew idiocy been halted.

I have had a go around with ol' Bob too......he generally gives up when proven clueless.
