The host site at http://www.inetebiz.com/ will soon act on the fact LP is a hate site, uses perveerted language and images and members advocating the violent overthrow of the government, promoting racism, etc.

No ISP that would want to be associated with that.

The question is under which societies and culture civilization has man made his greatest advances, thrived, and quenched his liberty;

If anything, the early church destroyed as much knowledge as possible, burning the Library of Alexandria, killing people who held different beliefs, and setting back science a thousand years or so. That's why it was called the Dark Ages.

Look at the persecution Galileo and others like him suffered. Luckily, science advanced in SPITE of religion, not BECAUSE of it.

You are way out of place here.

Your BS queries no longer work on those with the knowledge base that I and most of us on this forum now have.

See my tagline.

When you type "Muslims are out to take over the United States and the world" or some such similar tripe, I, and most here at 4um, see "I am an f-ing braindead idiot."

When you type "We need to worry about China, not Israel." or some such similar tripe, I, and most here at 4um, see "I am an Israel First traitor to America."

This forum is neither FR nor LP.

Threatening to destroy what they value most may be the only way to stop them.

Becoming no better than what you fear and hate makes you INTO what you fear and hate.

It makes you ONE of them actually.

You have this irrational fear of a different religion. That religion is not the problem, it is those who incite hatred and take away basic necessities from innocent people who are the problem. Look at what the Israelis have done, and are doing to the Palestinian population. Do you think that fosters good will?

Sammy obviously believes that muslims have the right to put non-muslims to the sword, by either murdering them, or enslaving them.

Please point out where Sam has said that. I can't seem to find anything like that posted on this thread, or anything implying that either.

Oh yeah, the story that says the earth along with the rest of the universe was created 6000 years ago, even though we can see distant galaxies 13 billion light years away (which to a reasonable person would indicate the universe is at least 13 billion years old).

Well golly shucks, I forgot about that. Hmmm, I also forgot about the contribution Judaism has given medicine, the services of a mohel...

Got it in one. Dinosaurs on the ark, the age of the universe question answered by "god created it to look old", then chinked up the holes between the logs with the mud of faith, not ever realizing there weren't even enough logs there to crucify an itinerant Jewish carpenter...

And the mohel, yes, indeed. Yup, while the Persians (with a nod to the Babylonians) were giving us al jabr, representatives of "el" were biting off the foreskins of infants.

Where would we be as a race if we were bereft of the civilizing influence of religion?

Originally, you spoke of Muslims being historically less peaceful than Christians and Jews, which is NOT true at all. Since this is your claim, why don't you cough up some historical data to validate your claim that Christianity and Judaism are historically more peaceful than Muslims?

Frankly, compared to the pacific spread of early Christian evangelism, where moral suasion was the main vehicle for propagating the faith, the first centuries of the spread of Islam were pretty riotous and chaotic, to say the least.

Of the four caliphs that succeeded Mohamed as leaders of the faithful, three were murdered (Umar Uthman and Ali) as well as Husssin the nephew of Ali. Both Ali and Hussein are revered as great Imams be the Shi'a. The Sunni disregard the great veneration in which these two and held, and this difference of opinion persists today as a legacy of the bitter conflicts that were fought in the 7th century.

The years between the death of Mohamed and the end of the first great period of conquests in north Africa and the Near East were tumultuous and riven by complex rivalries, antagonisms and warfare.

Here's a brief precis:

Thanks range. : )

Yes, I agree that the split in the Muslim faith was bloody and, even today, this is true for the Sunni/Shia rift.

Christians had less killing within the different sects, but I would argue that the Christians were more willing to kill those who refused to convert. People who were not so white were dubbed heathens and savages to merit killing them. I'm sure this was deemed moral suasion at the time.

Yeah up thru the period of Pauline conversions, the Christian church lived up to the pacific example of its progenitor.

But once Christianity became a state religion - whoa hoa!

I was just reading something about how the British empire used Christianity as a means to steal resources, enslave and keep the people subservient to the king.

I found that the Gnostic persepective was more pacifist and true to the tenants of Christianity, of course, that was one sect that was banished since it was a threat to the political aspirations of a less individualistic and loving view of Christianity.

What is the specific time frame of the Pauline conversions? Does that tie into the demise of the Gnostics?

Relatively speaking, progressive, thriving societies...

But no comparison to Industrial Age standards of living, creativity, and liberty for the common man.

Liberty? Well that is a subjective thing.

No it isn't.

Tell me, do you think the people of Iraq feel more free today than they did? Now that the religious police can arrest people for violating some arcane religious edict, which only started AFTER we "liberated" those people...

I don't know to WHAT degree the people Iraq feel "liberated" since the fall of Saddam...BUT that's germane to this issue because...

How about all those "liberated" people in Abu Ghraib, Bahrain, or other such wonderful places? Are they more free than before?

So a peaceful solution is out of the question because muslim fanatics cannot be reasoned with. Threat of killing them does not work because muslim fanatics do not fear death. That only leaves as the only targets against muslim fanatics, as being things that muslim fanatics care about.

As far as contrition in government for predominately Muslim states, the past 100 years have shown great strides.

Huh??

The only "strides" made by Muslim states has been the result of wealth attained as a result Western civilization's tpetro-dollars...

...Otherwise theMuslimaniacal camel-humpers would still be nothing more than nomadic Neanderthals.

The only war that Iran raged was instigated by the US and started by Iraq...

Bullsh*t.

These were two Muzzie factions doing what they do better than anyone on earth - HATING AND KILLING EACH OTHER FOR CENTRIES. They didn't need the U.S.'s help.

Iran isn't a perfect model, but it is a model of contrition over the past 600 years and Iranians have multiple cultural contributions in medicine and science during that time span.

If anything, Persia's contribution came before the year 1400 A.D.

Turkey is a parlimentary representative democracy, which is yet another historical example of Muslim contrition in the past 100 years.

Turkey is a political Muslim fluke. As to it's so called "contribution," the Ottoman Empire was one of the bloodiest indeed. Turkey's contribution in the last 100 years can best be described as, "a geo-political buffer between the USSR and US."
