Just look at the value of gold to the U.S. dollar compared at present day to 20 years ago.

I found an interesting article.
China is increasing it's military spending. news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7922699.stm
The article is dated around 2 weeks after your graph was made.
Also, the U.S. dollar's value has slid in that last six months by close to ten percent. Gold value last march was around $950 U.S. dollars an ounce. Now gold is around $1,050 U.S. dollars an ounce. goldprice.org/gold-price-...ry.html#30_day_gold_price
