t's a state capital. The Capitol is in Washington D.C.

Thanks D, I have been a tad confused with that issue. I always thought capital was only physical goods, now I understand grammar a bit better thanks to you. So to be clear state's have capitals, nations have capitols?

Wrong! Then the TeeVee show would've been called Houston, not Dallas. :P

Ya got me, man what can I say.

I know that Austin Texas was named for Jane Austin, because the people loved her books so.

If she's an isolationist, wants to close the borders, and is against redistribution of wealth, then she has answered all of your questions except one.

absolutely. i still support her and will vote for her. all things considered at this point in time, her thoughts on 911 aren't all that significant; especially because none of us will ever know what really happened.

p.s. Why does Beck distrust government actions - but stands foursquare behind the governments 9/11 findings.

9/11 is a "slam dump" deal. In this one case of government intervention, they were right. Although the US government let us down during 9/11, the US government let us us down after wards stripping us of of our God given rights.

Yep. From what little I know about TX politics, Medina seems head and shoulders above Perry and the other Washington insider in a skirt. That said, suppose Medina went on Beck today and said that a plane didn't hit the Pentagon, but rather a missile, and the plane, BTW, is missing without a trace some nine years later. She wouldn't be elected to the local school board, never mind state wide office. I believe her written response to 9-11 is her belief system as of today, and Beck chose to contort that into a dreaded "truther" position. Beck's old, but effective smear seems to have worked yet again. At least with some. As for me, given the desperate political times we're in, if I had a shot to dump Perry and/or Hutchinson, I'd take it.

#141. To: All, A letter to Glenn Beck from a Texan (#140)

Glenn,

I'm a Texan and a Grass-roots, Tea Party, Conservative. My husband and I marched on the Capital in D.C. on 9/12. We have also watched your show and listened to your radio show consistently and encouraged our friends and family to do the same. Most of all, I am as far as you can get from a 9/11 Truther. And although this is a free country, and I defend anybody's right to think what they will, I would never support any politician who believed that our government had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks.

But I have to say, I'm as mad as I've ever been about what you did to Debra Medina today on your radio show, and the total disrespect you had for her as a citizen of Texas. She has spent a good part of her adult life doing just what you have preached for the last year -- getting involved to make a difference in a political process that has gone mad. So many of us in Texas have supported her and prayed that she would make it on the ballot for the sake of Texas. With little to no money for a campaign, we have all joined together through emailing, door to door campaigning and word of mouth to help her reach the unprecedented gains in the polls she has accomplished.

Last week she had a wonderful national interview with Judge Napolitano, and we all cheered and thanked God for the opportunity. This week we looked forward to her interview with our champion, Glenn Beck. Well, I can't speak for all Medina supporters, but my heart sank when I heard the things you said about her. Not only because of how you might have hurt Debra, but also for all the people I had promoted you to.

And for those of us who have lived in Texas through Perry's reign of cronyism and Hutchinson's broken promises, Debra Medina is a champion for Texas whom we can believe in. And she certainly did not come out of the woodwork. She's an experienced advocate and willing to work 24/7 for a state and country she loves and believes in. And for you to dismiss her because of rumors and a non-related question you tried to force upon her, is beneath you. Or at least the person I thought you were. Now I wonder about a lot of people you've discarded as you moved up the popularity ladder. I know in a large part it's you showing your power, while playing the "man of the people" card, but just know-- Debra Medina is our "man (or woman) of the people" and when you trash her, you are trashing the people of Texas. And we don't like people messing with Texas. Think twice next time. I seriously believe you owe her an apology and an unbiased interview.

Sincerely, Kelli

9/11 is a "slam dump" deal. In this one case of government intervention, they were right.

The 9/11 commission did not tell the "whole truth" -- it left out any mention of Israeli knowledge or involvement.

Because they did so - we were led into wars that are still ongoing, for ten bloody years.

That is a crime - a major crime against humanity - put on the world by its Jews!

Kelli's passion for what she believes is touching, but I'd like to encourage her to become more cynical. The sooner people abandon hope in the likes of Beck, or anything else they see on "Faux" news the better. Cynicism is patriotism.

Second, I don't believe that this insane hatchet-job will kill Debra's chances. I'm going to move on and keep doing what I'm doing to help get her real message out there.

she could have said she hasn't drawn any conclusions because we've (including the families of the victims) been unable to get answers from the government. she could have asked him if he had answers to many of the questions that the 911 commission failed to address? how about building 7?

Correct.

I just wonder what dreck's people told her that they would be discussing. You know that it wasn't 9/11.

We have the benefit of what we know, in calm hindsight, but there she was, just an unwitting target for that tool's blindside attack.

Well then, why not use the "attack" to her advantage.

Instead of defending her position, something he wanted her to do, ATTACK THE CREEP BACK WITH A SCATHING PUBLIC STATEMENT...worded so as to encourage her supporters and undermine Beck.

Tom...

I was despised in County politics because I used the attack method on those in office. Once you let them put you on the defensive, you are finished.

The "system" incumbents have the power and the money behind the scene, always, so playing nice gets you beaten. I attacked my own nephew in county office and ran him off, he was corrupt, had to go. The voters WILL follow if you show them the way.

I would issue a public statement so outrageous that Beck would have to respond, not just ignore her as he is most likely to do.

Allude to the facts as known about Beck, even that he might wear pink silk underwear, anything to provoke him. If he ignores her, he has won.

Thanks. I'd still like to see a poll on 'what's the capital of TX?' It'd probably look like this:

Dallas 59%
Houston 17%
Phoenix 9%
Fort Worth 5%
The Alamo 4%
Mexico 1%
Austin 0.2%
Don't know/ran away 4.8%

Sir Lod..

In checking a long bio of Beck.

Here is where Miss Medina should start...what follows is from a bio of Beck...

"Radio historian Marc Fisher has posited that Beck is "first and foremost an entertainer."

His bio and background is rather lurid...A dream come true for anyone wishing to put Beck in his real position in political life.

#164. To: Cynicom, All, Email from Medina List (#162)

All,

I have received numerous emails and calls responding to Debra Medina’s radio interview with Glen Beck today. This email is a reply to the questions being raised about Debra Medina as a result of the interview. I will leave it to each of you to come to your own conclusion once you have investigated both sides of this debate.

One simple truth is that Debra Medina is intentionally putting herself in front of as many microphones as possible to communicate her message to the voters of Texas. This free publicity helps her compete against well funded candidates who can remain silent on the issues but flood the airwaves with their rehearsed ads. Speaking to a live audience has its benefits but potential pitfalls as well.

I would ask that you please read Debra's Press Release clarifying her position with respect to the questions raised during the Glen Beck interview before reacting to the opinions of others. Clearly her answer to Glen Beck could have been more succinct. That is the beauty of live broadcasts. Every spoken word presents the opportunity for a misstep.

http://www.medinafortexas.com/getPost?p=272

Keep in mind that Debra's message has always been about the preservation of individual freedoms. She includes among these freedoms the right of individuals to question our government. For some this means the freedom to question government mandated healthcare, or our participation in wars against other countries and for a minority it means the freedom to question the birthplace of Barak Obama or to demand more information about the events of Sept. 11th.

Debra’s positions on property tax, imminent domain, border security and nullification all stem from her strong belief that a failure to restrain government from exceeding the limits defined within our Constitution will be at the expense of individual freedoms.

Debra also believes it is not the right of government to restrict an individuals 1st amendment rights that include an individuals right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The reality remains this campaign is about what is best for the people of Texas. Debra's competitors favor big government solutions to solve our big problems. Big government has provided Texans with a national ranking of 47th in education, a $14 BILLION 2010 budget deficit, support for government confiscation of private property and alignment with special interests and in opposition to individual freedom of choice.

The Glen Beck interview like the efforts to paint Debra as a radical who wants to legalize drugs and prostitution are attempts by the status quo to move the conversation away from the real issues. This election remains in the hands of Texas voters to shift through the facts and vote for the candidate who offers the best answers to the challenges facing this great state.

Regards,

David Kuhn

Thanks for posting David's letter here.

This morning's local talk show, KLBJ590am, had several calls about dreck's program yesterday. Most of the callers support Debra: as Sam Cox mentioned, her popularity is in large part due to the people's rejection of business as usual in Washington and Austin, and a desire to get rid of the careerists in politics.
