Excerpt: [Mitt Romney's father] George Wilcken Romney was born in Mexico, to US citizen parents who had not yet spent one day on US soil. So exactly what was George Wilcken Romney true citizenship status? I believe that he would have been required to apply for naturalization, but he did not. How can Mitt Romney be considered a natural born citizen, when his father was possibly an illegal alien , and not a US citizen?

Apparently so.

Mitt ROmney's father is George W. Romney (1907-1995), once a Governor of Michigan and a Republican candidate for President (1968). GWR was born in a Mormon colonia in Mexico to parents who were both US citizens (and non- polygamist). When he was still young the family migrated back to Utah because of the political unrest in Mexico. I remember GWR's run for the nomination and I never heard a word said against his eligibility as a natural-born citizen.

Certainly Mitt Romney was no "anchor baby". His father's entitlement to enter and stay in the US was not at all dependent on Mitt. Nor has there ever been any legal authority to suggest that the 14th Amendment carves out exceptions for the children born in the US to illegally entered parents.

Well now you have.

Citation needed. There are a number of legal references at the FR site you could review but which don't support natural born citizenship status for them. That is the issue in question and not citizenship per se at some later point in time, naturalized or by Mitt's geographic location here at birth. And let's be clear, too, that his family had not chosen to live for generations in Mexico because they were on diplomatic assignment to some outlying US territory. They were fugitives from the law and their offspring jurisdictionally Mexicans.

Who cares about Mitt, he has as much chance of being president as Charlie Sheen does.

I say Trump is going to try to spoil this thing by splitting the vote and trying to get Obama back in there. I think Trump very well could be false opposition to Obama.

So, he's one up on you.

You think he's going to run as an Independent to do that?
