Now who is it with the obsession with the number 6? It'll come to me in a minute. It's right on the tip of my tongue...

Oy !

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." ~ Ben Franklin

These huge up and down moves are a lot like shaken baby syndrome ... the bruising from the shaking is fatal to many. The dollar keeps losing value so the stock market would have to go to 30,000 just to keep up with inflation !

It was the S&P that lost 6.66%

Please, noone, you are interfering with the myth building process here on this forum. It is is a vital therapeutic activity for aging baby-boomers.

It is a violation of Natural Law to use this document in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Yeah, I meant to say ,"...for a loss of 6.66% on the S&P..."

The DJIA lost 5.55%, or 6% rounded off.

noone sometimes supplies the forum with so much reality that even us crusty f***ers have trouble choking it down.

Last week, noone posted a number of technicolor paragraphs with such a high reality quotient that it nearly destroyed my digestion. I downed a half a jug of milk of magnesia and soaked my feet in a tub of water for an hour. Hadda put a moist terry towel over my head to cool my transistors.

How long ya think before the market gains it all back?

Probably never. Like Noone said, the Dow would have to get to 30,000, maybe 40 just to get back to where it was toward the end of the Clinton administration before the tech crash.

Doesn't really matter, Goldman Sachs and their HFT computer algos are systematically looting the markets and the country. It's not possible to win unless you're one of the insiders.

I was going to invest in an annuity and a broad portfolio earlier this summer, but by digesting CNBC/Bloomberg/WSJ and reading the tea leaves on 4um I held off. I'd be crying like a little girl right now if I had let greed override common sense......

It is possible to beat the market in the short term, BUT you have use an operating basis that the market is rigged and crooked and place your bets based on how you think the manipulations will go.

What a charade.

Here's the basic operation of the charade:

Market goes up - Fed prints up money, charged to you at interest, to give to the banksters to gamble with in The Great Global Casino.

Market goes down - JP Morgan and/or Goldman Sachs sweeps the chips off the table, pays themselves billion dollar bonuses, sends the leftovers to the tribe in the homeland.

That's about it.

Mike Flaherty: Yeah, it's been there a long time. I wish I knew which corner.
