CONTAGION, THE MOVIE

AN AUTHORITATIVE REVIEW

SEPTEMBER 6, 2011. First, I want to let you know I've ended my radio show. It was a good run, but I have too many other projects going. Thanks to those who listened over the last year or so.

Okay. Now to the matter at hand.

FEAR THE VIRUS.

TREMBLE AT THE VIRUS.

OH, THE HUMANITY, OH THE IRONY, THAT WE, WITH ALL OUR TECHNOLOGY, FALL TO THE MACHINATIONS OF THE BARELY VISIBLE SPECK. OUR HUBRIS HAS BROUGHT US DOWN.

On Sept. 9, the bio-disaster film, Contagion, opens worldwide. With a budget of $60 million, director Steve Soderbergh, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet will try to convince audiences that a virus can kill off half the world in six days. Or something.

The tag line on the movie poster is: Nothing Spreads Like Fear.

Or as I prefer, Nothing Spreads Like Bullshit.

The script received assistance from the CDC and "a team of scientific experts," and was partially based on research into the global SARS epidemic. Would that be the epidemic that spawned 8,422 confirmed cases and killed 916 people?

More people have died from toasters falling out of apartment windows than from SARS.

The CDC will love this film, because, God knows, they need all the ammo they can get to justify their bloated budget, as they continue to do nothing about disease, except falsify reports on it.

For one reference, Google "Peter Doshi, BMJ, CDC flu death statistics," and you'll get an eyeful.

Anyway, I'm sure Contagion will make back its expenses, even if the CDC has to buy ten million tickets.

Vegas casino bookies are setting the over-under line on how times the word "mutation" will be mentioned in the film at 40.

Hollywood has a long tradition of hyping medical "brilliance," and Contagion will be its latest brain-dead homage.

Laurence (CSI) Fishburne, as the CDC spokesman, will deliver a morbidly stagnant phoned-in performance-which, come to think of it, is perfect for his role.

Jude Law, as the rogue blogger, will mention at least one fake cure for the lethal virus. Wonder if it will be nutritional-you know, just to take a swipe at natural health.

"See your doctor, take your medicine, and shut up, even though we don't have an effective medicine. And as your brain is being munched on by The Germ and your spine is dissolving and you are being shot at by mobs of rioters, don't you dare ingest a few herbs. There are no peer-reviewed studies establishing efficacy for such remedies."

Perhaps, at the end of the movie, we'll see an announcement about getting vaccinated. Flu-jab booths in the lobby?

The producers are hoping for a good bounce from the horror-film crowd, but this could backfire, because those folks are often vocal when they sit in dark theaters and watch people on the screen being eaten up.

I predict the following. In at least one theater somewhere in the world:

Someone will sit in his seat and squeeze out a hacking cough from start to finish of this turkey;

Someone will say, "There's a virus on your face! Get away from me!"

Someone will shout, "Kill, virus, faster!"

Someone will yell, "My organs are falling out of my body!"

They will be hushed by nasty glares from other moviegoers, who ascribe a sacred quality to viruses bordering on religious awe.

I've been waiting years for someone to start an underground Church of the Virus.

"God is actually H1N1. He's had enough."

If you decide to spend ten or 20 bucks, or whatever it costs to go to movies these days, opt for the super-giant tub of popcorn with plastic butter before you slip into your seat. Or alternatively, wear a surgical mask, or tote an oxygen tank on your back with a tube and an inhaler. Between snorts, boo the inevitable researcher who saves the planet at the last minute. Make your own fun, because this is going to be a 105-minute epidemic of crap the likes of which you haven't seen since Outbreak.

Anger? as a first reaction to get your a$$ moving, once you see through the Media Matrix and set yourself free from your lifelong mind control collar. Sustainable? not enough to screen your intention to be free from the Talosians, who can’t read primitive emotions but know what you watch on cable/sat, read on the Internet and eat. Our ultimate weapon is laughter and amused detachment at the folly of the would-be emperors. Fear mongers HATE it when the FEAR card doesn’t work. The humiliation of being seen as merely a naked ape is THEIR big fear. Laugh the bastards off the stage! Tell your friends that we can build a real civilization from the ruins of the totalitarian game!

I'm actually going to see this when it comes out (they can keep their popcorn), and I also liked Outbreak. I don't use the movies for anything but entertainment and as a tool to gauge the conditioning of the sheep. If one understands where Hollyweird is taking the audience, these "disaster" movies can be a way to break away briefly from the grim reality we all dwell in daily.

That's the way I read these types of shows. Hey, with the senior discount, it's only $5.50 here in the sticks. Not a bad price for getting "lost" from reality for 2-hours :)

The book is much better than the movie. (Jack Nicholson would have made a great Randall Flagg) As Give me Liberty said, you won't be able to put the book down.

The greatest writer of short stories ever, imo. It seems most of them were turned into movies. I bought a hardback copy of The Stand and mailed it to his publisher to see if he would sign it and they returned 3 months later signed "Now I know where you live and I'm going to get you." Cool as hell!

During an interview King was asked why he chose to write horror stories.

"What makes you think I have a choice?", he replied.

He also said, ""I have the heart of a young boy...and I keep it in a jar on my desk." - Borrowed from Robert Bloch

Your thinking is right on!

This is a big clue to the motivation/intent of universal law; even the practitioners of the blackest magic learn the hard way that in order to avoid instant karma or a boomerang/backfire reaction from the collective unconscious, there must be allowance for the sovereign will of the individual soul, meaning that in some way the recipient/target of magical manipulation must still opt in voluntarily, however strained that definition may become in the process!

Just as ordinary cons REQUIRE willing participation, usually appealing to the lower nature of greed or appealing to fear in a sexed-up guise of security, so does the psychological/psychic con game of magic which is really just the systematic misuse of the power of consciousness/faith to create reality.

In ironic contrast, those who prefer brute force, exploiting the already conned to override the will of the yet-to-be-conned by force or threat of death, only need to have passive consent, counting on those who love their lives as slaves more than the exercise of their sovereign free will, to acquiesce before deadly force is actually required.

When the fully dimensional history of human habitation of the earth is revealed, it will become clear that overt military action has had less influence than its adherents (and those who fear it) imagine and less than the influence of the dark arts of social control/mind control (especially in the last 2-3 centuries):

public relations
institutionalized religion as social control
medical syndicate
propaganda
psychiatry
modern advertising and marketing
mediaMatrix
subliminal and psychotronic manipulation
and of course, dark magic or if you prefer, psychic warfare.

In general, most people with little faith in themselves have been so easy to bluff that, just like the elephant conditioned by being chained from youth to stay tethered, ends up being held captive by a skimpy rope, so do people so thoroughly internalize their masters' carefully selected fear memes and IMPRISON THEMSELVES while rationalizing that they are actually free and are willingly conforming for some "good reason" other than lack of courage.

J T:

While I have no doubt that your psychic filters allow you to immerse yourself in the action of a movie dripping with mind-control propaganda and remain uninfected (pun intended) it is too easy to make facile rationalizations that allow us to steep our minds in dis-empowering distraction while implantation of subtly limiting beliefs occurs. This is why the mediaMatrix is so ascendent as THE go-to social control mechanism.

IOW, while those who would remain free CAN learn to shield their minds by being eternally vigilant and self-observing the mind at all times, eventually a little cost-benefit or risk-benefit analysis steers them away from willingly placing yet another test upon their psychic integrity for little benefit other than escape.

I hear from sheeple all the time their self-deluded/self-congratulatory self-assessment that, though they subject themselves to non-stop surrender to the media for the mass mind, THEY are not being influenced, that THEIR courage is not doused, that THEIR creativity is not dulled.

Being more and more discerning about what we consume (as well as what we produce) is the key to developing mastery over our mental attitude and our physical health.

Thoughts are things and while I still enjoy a good action movie (The Eagle comes to mind) paying good money to sit passively while all kinds of shit is thrown at me by highly paid baboons no longer appeals to me!

Hi HighLairEon, and thanks for your reply. Despite your cautious tone regarding my pending movie attendance, I’ve decided to go ahead with my plans anyway. Having spent countless amounts of time and money over the past 20 years trying to alert my friends and family to the dangers we face, I’ve concluded that my effort has failed. I’ve failed so poorly in fact, that even my immediate family refuses to listen to my warnings. To them, when it comes to matters political and economic (I know there really isn‘t a difference), I’ve become the proverbial broken record. Hence my dilemma; do I accept the reality that they represent the vast majority of the American populace, or do I, a man in his early 60s, continue being a town crier to a stupefied nation? As you can see I’m choosing the former, and to hell with those who willingly remain in an information coma. I can say without hesitation I have done my personal best. Today I’m left to conclude that they are beyond *my* help and any further effort on *my* part will be wasted. What time I have left on this rock will be spent as a semi hedonist, a state I thankfully can afford to peruse. As for you, good luck in your new effort to shake the sheeple awake. Lord knows we desperately need men who refuse to take no for an answer.
