Tim LaHaye, an influential evangelical leader and author of the best-selling Christian book series, Left Behind, and his wife Beverly, the founder of Concerned Women of America, endorsed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and LaHaye wrote a letter to pastors and evangelical leaders in South Carolina asking them to unify behind Gingrich.

In the letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, Tim LaHaye urges South Carolina’s religious leaders to unite “behind a proven conservative who has the best chance of replacing the present occupant of the White House with a man with a proven record of appointing conservatives to office who can return this country to the constitutional principles that God has chosen to bless [us with] for over two hundred years.”

This significant endorsement may signal other evangelicals to unite behind Gingrich in South Carolina and beyond to defeat former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the GOP presidential primary.

LaHaye writes that he has known Gingrich for thirty years and acknowledges that though Gingrich “is not perfect, none of us is," and notes that despite Gingrich’s past, which has made some religious voters hesitant, Gingrich can be trusted on issues that are important to social conservatives.

“During the last three years our nation has been led by liberal secularists who have tried their best to remove God from our public square and the elimination of the Biblical principles our founding fathers built this nation on,” LaHaye argues. “Their financial policies have already brought us to the brink of bankruptcy and their government policies of over-regulation has prolonged our recession and will, if continued for four more years, destroy this country as we know it.”

“If we do not change our leaders in the next election we will end up being like the godless socialist countries of Europe,” LaHaye writes. “That will so destroy our country in four years that many experts believe we will never be able to reclaim it for moral and physical sanity.”

LaHaye writes that in 1980, he helped Jerry Falwell start the influential Moral Majority, which was instrumental in electing Ronald Reagan, because America was “on a decline not unlike our country today” and “liberal secularists had brought our nation to the verge of malaise and stagnation because over half the Christians in America didn’t even bother to vote.”

According to LaHaye, Falwell told him personally that, “Speaker Gingrich is the most qualified man in America to run as president of the United States.”

LaHaye notes that he is one of two original Moral Majority board members who is still alive and writes to South Carolina’s religious leaders, “Now it is your turn.”

“As a South Carolinian, you are in a strategic position to help America at this historic time in our nation’s history,” LaHaye writes. “As a voter, you can go to the polls and elect the one man in the upcoming primary with the intelligence, conservative philosophy and hands on experience in government that is so needed today to return our country to the God honoring principles that made our nation the greatest country in world history.”

Gingrich is competing with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum for the conservative and evangelical vote and to be the last anti-Romney candidate standing. But the longer the conservative vote is splintered, the easier it becomes for Romney to glide to the nomination.

If Gingrich can consolidate the support of evangelicals and conservatives in South Carolina and beyond, he will have a chance to defeat Romney, who has had difficulty persuading more than 30 percent.

The letter in its entirety appears below:

Dear fellow South Carolina Evangelicals and pastors:

You may find this hard to believe, but in 1947-48 I was the pastor of the Oolenoy Baptist church in  Pumpkintown, S.C,  thirty five miles out in the country from Greenville.  It was there that I was ordained to the Gospel ministry and have been in the Lord’s work for over 64 happy years.

The reason I am writing you is because as a South Carolinian, you are in a strategic position to help America at this historic time in our nation’s history.  During the last three years our nation has been led by liberal secularists who have tried their best to remove God from our public square and the elimination of the Biblical principles our founding fathers built this nation on. Their financial policies have already brought us to the brink of bankruptcy and their government policies of over regulation has prolonged our recession and will, if continued for four more years, destroy this country as we know it.

Some in this government want to tell churches who they can hire or fire to run their church, which is the very thing our forefathers wanted to keep the King and his government from doing.  If we do not change our leaders in the next election we will end up being like the godless socialist countries of Europe.  That will so destroy our country in four years that many experts believe we will never be able to reclaim it for moral and physical sanity.

That is where you come in!

As a voter you can go to the polls and elect the one man in the upcoming primary with the intelligence, conservative philosophy and hands on experience in government that is so needed today to return our country to the God honoring principles that made our nation the greatest country in world history.  That man is our personal friend, Speaker Newt Gingrich.  My wife Beverly, the Founder and Chairman of Concerned Women For America based in Washington D.C., and I believe he is the only man running for the office of President of America who  shares our conservative principles who can beat the present leader in open debate.  And win!

As my friend, the late Dr. Jerry Falwell told me personally, “Speaker Newt Gingrich is the most qualified man in America to run as president of the United States”… We agree!

In 1980, America was on a decline not unlike our country is today.  Liberal secularists had brought our nation to the verge of “malaise and stagnation” because over half the Christians in America didn’t even bother to vote.

That’s why we started the Moral Majority that helped elect conservative Ronald Regan and with God’s help he changed the direction of our country. I am one of the two minister board members still living who helped Jerry get that majority started.  Today we have no regrets!

Now it is your turn.

It seems apparent the Republican candidates have come down to two possible winners.  Please prayerfully consider going to the polls on  (date) and help elect Newt Gingrich, a proven conservative who has the best chance of replacing the present occupant of the White House with a man with a proven record of appointing conservatives to office that can  return this country to the constitutional principles that God has chosen to bless for over two hundred years.  Not just for ourselves, but for our children and to maintain the religious freedom that is so important today in preserving our nation’s future.

Oh, the ever delightful Tim LaHaye - friend to Sun Myung Moon who is tied to the Korean CIA, which likely ties LaHaye to our CIA and their ongoing PsyOps.

Of course heaven forfend that we should have peace as that is against all Kristyun Zionazi teachings - the world has to be in turmoil and roiling in a sea of blood for the sweet baaaaaaaaby Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezusssssssssssss to return and lift his bloody handed murderers off to a realm beyond the sky because they helped murder millions of people and turned the world into a burning charnel house to summon him to do their bidding. Yes folks it IS that sick. By mouthing the right words while doing nothing to right the hellish direction of our planet they expect to be rewarded by being raptured out of here so that they do not have to live through the hell they helped to create by violating the very teachings which distinguish the best in Christianity.

Oh, the ever delightful Tim LaHaye

I agree with you, he is a PsyOps Zionist plant to tell the dead churches.... "don't do anything" just "don't do anything" when it comes to evil, corruption or social ills, because you will all be ruptured out and will not suffer the problems all the "non-believers" will suffer. Mr. Left Behind BS pusher himself, what a money grubbing pile of human refuse.

I got to hand it to him, his mission of neutralizing Christians has been incredibly successful, the percentage of self professed Christians out in the fray fighting for the good of mankind is very low.

I wish the brain dead Christians (and this is the vast majority) would actually read their Bibles. All the apostles fought authority til the day they died and in most cases this death was pretty gruesome. Nah, the brain dead think being a Christian is a popularity contest so they go along to get along.

As you can see, you have hit on a topic I am passionate about.

As am I. Here is the fundamental set of contradictions implicit in Christian Zionism and the Rupture:

1. Nowhere in the New Testament is Israel exalted above all other nations.

2. Nowhere in either the Old or New Testament is Israel given a pass on adhering to the Ten Commandments. Yet the Christian Zionist Rupture Monkeys give Israel a pass on having become a latter day Sodom and Gomorrah - complete with a sex slave trade, drug trade, policies of murder, theft, and degradation of others.

3. Nowhere in the Old OR New Testaments is anything resembling the Rupture spoken of. That is an I-N-T-E-R-P-R-E-T-A-T-I-O-N of the Christian Scriptures brought about by a Convicted Con Man (Scofield) who was financed by ROTHSCHILD money.

4. The support for Israel and its Crimes Against Humanity is rationalized by Christian Zionists as speeding up the "End Times" and thus hurrying up Christ back to rescue them from their own crimes against God's Laws. This requires as a premise that the Convicted Felon Scofield's interpretation of the Bible was true and sound. That of course requires the further assumption that an Omniscient and Omnipotent God would be blinded to all the crimes and horrors they have supported, if only by inaction, and that by mouthing the right incantations that somehow that Omniscient and Omnipotent God is stupid enough to not recognize their disobedience of his laws and thus will "bring them home" because they said the right words while their actions furthered the work of Hell on Earth.

I could likely go on, but that is the crux of it.

from one of the unification church (Moon's) sites.

Father has suffered on many other occasions, such as in the Republic of Korea, particularly in North Korea, but this is the most important period. Why? Because even though Father suffered in Korea and North Korea, that was not the cosmic age for universal salvation. That was not the worldwide level. Today here in the United States, which is the microcosm of the world, whatever Father does has a universal impact. For that reason, this particular period of suffering of our True Parents is very important. What Father has accomplished at Danbury is the restoration of Christianity and the unification of Christianity. Father brought Christianity into one with the Unification Church. Christians began to understand Father and accept Father and Father's dispensation.

One good example is Dr. Tim LaHaye's visit to Danbury. Dr. LaHaye is a very famous minister. On that day, it was snowing. He was coming from Washington, D.C., and his plane was an hour and a half late. It was the only flight that got out; everything else was canceled. So I met him at the airport and took him by car to Danbury, which normally takes an hour and a half. But that day it took three hours in the snow, and several times our car was dancing on the highway, very dangerous, so we really slowed down. Nobody else was on the road.

During the drive, Dr. LaHaye said, "It is incredible what our government did to Reverend Moon, to confine Reverend Moon in this kind of place." When we got to Danbury, he met Father, who was wearing humble prison clothes. He held Father's hands and the first words Dr. LaHaye spoke were, "Reverend Moon, I apologize on behalf of my government." Mother saw that Dr. LaHaye's eyes were red and he was crying. What a beautiful union, a beautiful union of brothers, like Esau and Jacob. Father and Dr. LaHaye were embracing. Then Father said, "No, Dr. LaHaye, you have nothing to apologize for. It must be God's will, and God's will brought us together. You know, because I am in Danbury, you came all the way from California to meet me here. If I were in East Garden, you would not come there to see me. Now you came here. So you see, God works in mysterious ways.

"CT Classic: With Their Leader in Prison, Moonies Pursue Legitimacy" Tim LaHaye and other Christians are helping the Unification Church battle the perceived threat of government intrusion.

Full acceptance into the mainstream of American religious life is a cherished goal of Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church. Ironically, Moon's recent imprisonment for tax evasion appears to be bringing that dream a step closer to reality.

"Religious freedom" rallies around the country are drawing thousands of unsuspecting Christians into emotionally charged meetings that portray Moon as a persecuted man of God. No ties with the Unification Church are mentioned in promotional mailings. The sponsors are identified as a coalition of Christian leaders including author Tim LaHaye; Robert Grant, of Christian Voice; and Joseph Lowery, of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Greg Dixon and Everett Sileven, leaders of a coalition of independent, fundamentalist churches, are involved as well.

I didn't realize it was that rare. Mine is in mint unplayed condition since my expensive Nakamichi Dragon Turntable was stolen before I played it and since then it has been in storage. I bought it when I was stationed in Japan during the 80's.
