His death will bring things back in perspective on this man.

Joe probably should of retired a while ago and enjoyed his golden years spending more time with his family.

He tried to stay on the top of the college football world into his eighties, and had things happen he would of caught and aggressively dealt with better when he was younger and on top of his game.

My deepest condolences to his family, and I hope everyone learned something from this. Not to mention that I hope those who think it is OK or appropriate to rape children get exactly what is coming to them.

One key witness down. This is good news for "Jerry" Sandusky.

This is true, but if Joe had given any Grand jury testimony, it can be read into the record at the trial as if it were testimony because he is now deceased.

That is not as good as actually having him on the witness stand, but at least that is something.

paterno didn't witness anything. He just sat on the information and didn't do much of anything, until it blew up in his face.

"You know, (McQueary) didn't want to get specific," Paterno said in the Post interview. "And to be frank with you I don't know that it would have done any good, because I never heard of, of, rape and a man. So I just did what I thought was best. I talked to people that I thought would be, if there was a problem, that would be following up on it."

On the morning of Nov. 9, Paterno said he would retire following the 2011 season. He also said he was "absolutely devastated" by the abuse case.

"This is a tragedy," the coach said. "It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more."

Cowardice knows no bounds. Not in this country.

Paterno was told, but imo only so that real witness could get himself off the hook by kicking it upstairs, paterno did the same, and told everyone but the people that should have been told so he could absolve himself of responsibility, and probably knowing that they would cover it up.

But someone pulled the pin on that grenade and BOOM!

What the hell did Joe Paterno think was going on when Sandusky kept hanging around the campus with no apparent arrest in sight?? Joe Paterno didn't want a scandal happening on his watch and he did the minimum required by him and didn't ask any more questions. I say his inaction/disregard towards a pedophile caught up with him.
