An asshole burglar broke into my home while I was at work today. He was going through my things in my office and in my bedroom. Rummaging through my closets and clothes and personal items. He wasn't here long before I rolled home. His footprints were left sprinting across the back yard and the back door was wide open when I went around the back of the house to get in. The Burglar had tripped the top interior lock to buy some extra time to run if somebody came home.
I think the burglar cased my home, for how long I do not know. Prick could live in some of the apartments down the street. This neighborhood has gone to shit!
The burglar picked my front locks while a two man road crew was working on street repairs right in front of my home. That crew was there when I left and when I returned four and half hours later. The police officers thought that perhaps they were involved. I suggested that they question them at the very least, since they were in front of the house the entire time I was gone. I had to make a police report because they got away with Sig. I'm so pissed off! I had Sig by my bed, ready to go if some asshole broke in during the night. Did I mention that this neighborhood has gone to shit!
Although I carry Sig, I generally don't carry Sig to work with me. My boss isn't as comfy with firearms as I am, so I respect that. But, if Sig had been with me, Sig wouldn't have been taken. So, I'm sitting here kicking myself in the ass and fuming over it.
I'll put in my claim with the homeowners insurance and get some funds for a new Sig, bit of cash stolen and some missing personal items. Gun show is coming up soon. But, I really LOVED THAT gun. #@#&%!
All I have left are Sig's mags.......$#@^%*!

I was just looking at the Sig P232. It's very close to my Sig that felt like a perfect extension for my hand. Runs a little over $700 with laser on board.
Sig was just perfect for a carry firearm. Nothing to snag on anything, short barrel and NEVER misfired after hundreds and hundreds of rounds. Perfect weight. Always accurate.
Truth be told, I'm feel a little naked with Sig around.

Young lady, you need to do what I had both of my daughters do, get the finishing training at Frontsight in case you are presented with a face to face showdown. Both daughters were much better shots with pistols, rifles, and shotgun than their bigger and much stronger and heavier brothers. They were such great students, that I bought them both top of the line pistols, rifles, and shotguns and a safe for safe keeping. Both have concealed carry, if they want to do so. I don't worry about my girls at all. I hope that they continue to have good judgement about their choice for their boyfriend/husband. My oldest has 3 beautiful daughters, the youngest has yet to marry.

Got it on the gun though. After stopping power the most important aspect is, do you feel comfortable with the weapon, and that definitely sounds like it was a yes.
Having been ripped off a couple of times myself I've experienced it first hand, and the feeling of violation is maddening. I still miss that Nakamichi Turntable.
I'd say change the locks but locks really only keep honest people honest unless you're home, chained up, and have the Scatter Gun handy.

Recently, I've had some friends telling me I need a 40 for stopping power....that Sig wasn't good enough. But, I always felt secure that a few hollow point rounds would do the trick with Sig. : )

I'm assuming that the coppers have your Sig's serial# so that they can check out the pawn shops when they make their rounds with their list of serial#'s??
Don't change calibers if what you've been shooting feels good for you. You can always pull the trigger more than once; in fact, it's recommended that you empty the magazine into a perp just to make sure that only your side of the story is reported :-o

Maybe you've seen it but I recall a cartoon of a squirrel with his head blown off and the caption read: "This is your brain on hollow points." Very enlightening.

Yep, Sig's serial number goes into the database. They said the odds were good that I would get it back. But, that may take awhile.

My H&K USP Compact .40 S&W has a stout recoil (Blazer 165-gr bullets), I can't really see you enjoying practicing with something like that considering that you're more petite than I am. See if you can rent/borrow a compact .40 before you jump ship, stick with what works for you.

I figured that the 40 would have substantially more recoil and that the grip would be much bulkier. I held a lot of guns at a lot of gun shows before settling with Sig and it was love at first feel. : )
There is a local gun shop owner who offers a "smorgasbord" to try out his wares. I was planning on giving him a call to belly up even before this happened. Now, I'm less inclined to procrastinate. Plus, I'll have some funds from the insurance claim to cover my losses.

Sad but true....
My neighborhood is on the poor side, but it used to be a lot better. In the past eight months there was a murder down the street, bullet holes in the neighbor's car, an old man had an attempted robbery a few blocks away and shot two of the three burglars and then held one at gun point, the park across the street has gang tags all over it, people are sleeping in the park regularly, gun shots are heard often, cops are on the street at least once a week now, sometimes more. Sigh.

We've been pretty lucky in this neighborhood, but I am in the process of secreting valuables where they will be very hard to find & getting serial numbers down on everything that has one.
I haven't gone around the house to photograph rooms since the last hurricane, but I think it's time to do that again.

That's terribly unfortunate to endure something like this. I'm with you on the moving idea. Doesn't sound safe to stay in a place once you've been robbed. I got robbed once by six gang members (three black and three mexican) back in the Spring of '91. I wasn't packing heat that day and wished I had been. I would have taken out all of their sorry asses. Instead, I chased them down the alley street in my high heels and managed to get their license and make and model of car. I wasn't afraid; I was pissed. So, I understand how you feel. Out in California they discourage gunowners from protecting themselves. This explains why that State has turned into a shithole because if you shoot the intruder in the house, you'll go to jail or the intruder can sue you. Can you believe that shit?

I lived there for 21 years. Whenever I went to work at a club, I was ALWAYS packing heat. ALWAYS! In fact, most of the people I worked with were armed. I remember one morning, I had to help the bartender open the club and some Mexican pos was outside armed with knives and making threats to the club bouncer. I stayed in and went in the dressing room and prepared to lock and load. We couldn't even open up business until the cops came. Yea, those Mexican gang member are serious business out there. I saw death everytime I was walking to and from work. One day I was waiting for the bus to go home and next thing I know I almost got caught up in between two Mexican gang members in a shoot out at some car dealership. So, I did the smart thing by laying down flat on the ground and playing dead. Right in the busy street of Van Nuys! I remember praying to God to help get me home safe. Sure enough two cop car units rolled on by and one of them drove me home. They really thought I was dead too cause I would not move all the while that was taking place.
When a temp employment agency was going to book me for a temp job assignment, they were going to send me to Pacoima, Ca which is heavily gang infested. So, I went to check out the area before accepting their assignment and low and behold it was gang infested. I refused the assignment.
When you live in the city like L.A. you trust your hunches more than people. It's the only way you will survive. Even the strong die in L.A.

When I would wait for the bus, I would see drug deals going on between two or three vehicles that would make their sudden drop stop, pick up up their dope and go about their business. Seen it all.
So, I understand what you are going through with the bad neighborhood issue. Just keep your guard up.

The park across the street used to be suitable to take my kids....not anymore. It's all tagged up with gang signs and part of their idiotic turf war now. CA street gangs have moved in here and spread out across this nation like a deadly virus. I hope you are living in a much safer environment than you were in CA.

I moved out of Ca in March of 2009 cause I couldn't find stable employment. Even if I had a college degree it would do me more harm out there than elsewhere. It's become a gang-member state where the Mexican mafia gangs take over. Out there you had the MS-13 gangs and others coming into the suburbs and they'd begin tagging. Once they tag an area, unless you fight back by painting over their tagging, they own your block. That is their way of communicating to the business and homeowners that this is gang territory. It also communicates to their rival gangs to stay away from their tagged areas.
