My mechanic called and told me the bad news about my van. Fuel pump.

$850.

I'm going to buy a car from the '60s I can fix myself...

Maybe a Pontiac Tempest with the sland-4. I had one when I was 19 but blew the engine up.

Isn't it an Aerostar or something? A replacement pump is like $150, if it's just the jump. Replace it yourself.

Don't get the pump/sender assembly, just the pump.

Just don't forget to do a proper solder job on the wiring connections to the pump.

Windstar.

The problem is that I would have to drop the tank, which I cannot do.

I checked online and it says to only partly drop the tank. A fuel pump is only about $60. I supposed I could tow it to a friend's house and spend two days fixing it.

You can't drop the tank? The amazing turtle can't drop a simple tank? Doesn't it just have two straps like 99.99% of all tanks on the road?

On the ground, in the winter, during a snow storm, I could do that job in about 2 hours, :p

That's taking into account my old age and somewhat impaired physical condition these days.

I'd have to tow it seven miles to a friend's house, because my apartment complex will not allow me to work on it. Next to his house is a place that said they'd do it for $400, so I'm taking it there.

Could I work in my parking lot, I could do it in a day or so for less than $200, after buying the fuel pump and a hydralic jack.

Had a bike once. Got rid of it.

Was standing up to pedal and foot slipped off pedal. Lay in the ditch half hour before could get up.
