As per Drudge, RP just quit the race. I was taken yet again.
Cyni, this is directed to you. You nailed it from the get go, and I got suckered.
I bow to you and accept my heaping portion of crow served anyway you care to deliver it to me.
Cynicom is a leftist troll who hasn't been right about anything his whole life
Calling Ron Paul an isolationist is like calling your neighbor a hermit because he doesn't come over and break your window - unknown

Ron Paul doesn't need to spend money in states that haven't voted. His origination is in place and he already has the delegates locked up, it's going to be a brokered convention.
You forgot FedGov agent provocateur and overall 02 waster
He reminds me of Robin, who for years acted and posted on F4um as a lover of small government right up until Obama began his "free healthcare" bullshit. Once Dr. Paul became a threat to his masters, Cynicom began his anti-Paul crusade.

You really need to remember to take your meds.
"The few who understand the [FEDERAL RESERVE] system will either be so interested in its profits or be so dependent upon its favours that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of people, mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear its burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests."

RP dropped out last time the day of the Texas convention - this time a couple of weeks prior to the Texas primary and the delegate convention.
Whatever the strategy (if there really is one) it doesn't look like the one I'd use. It looks like he quit to everyone except some of Paul's people.
I don't trust "any" FED including Ron Paul and I'm not a leftist troll or a FED GOV Agent provocateur.

Why? Cynicom is an admitted lifetime federal employee. He is an outspoken advocate of unions in general and the federal employees union in particular. That makes him pro-big government. If he talks like a leftist and walks like a leftist.....

Maybe we'll see what this revolution is really made out of. In reading some of the posts at the DAILY PAUL it appears that many of Ron's supporters are ready to go even if he quits.
The fact is Ron's an old guy and could have died during this campaign season and then what - freedom and liberty die with Ron Paul ? I hope there's some truth in the statements coming out that Ron simply hasn't got the funding to campaign in the primary states that remain and is pulling delegates together for the convention in Tampa. (It's really too bad that Texas gets screwed again).

I'll take a peek at some of the forums I got involved with recently. I can't help but think had RP just kept his yap shut this "go anyway" sentiment might have validity. With Paul making this very unnecessary statement, I can't help but think a giant wet towel has been thrown over the movement.

JT, I was just talking to CadetD and used the exact same terms to describe my opinion. Saying anything was UNNECESSARY and counter-productive.

Speculation that he might split from the GOP to mount an independent presidential bid were never borne out,
Ron decided long ago to DO NO HARM TO THE FUTURE OF RAND PAUL.
That entailed no third party run, AND NO HARM TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.
Now the republican party will be beholden to Ron.
It is politics at its best backroom style.
Trying to paper over this withdrawal is futile and foolish.
While I somewhat agree I disagree with the motivations you are assigning to RP.
I still go back to the South Carolina Debate in the last (s)Election as that was the turning point. The entire tenor of his campaign changed from that point forward. If you look for a reason now for his behavior it is not in present time you will not find one - it is back in SC (or that time frame). I don't know what he was threatened with but it was convincing. It is possible that a Senatorial seat for Rand was offered to make things less bitter, but I am convinced that was NOT the reason for the change. The reason there will be no third party run is because of a threat or threats unknown. Threats so overwhelming that he would not dare mention them in public. It would be pointless anyway as a third party candidate, as it stands now, will not ever be allowed to win.
I do not know how it was done but I am convinced that he was threatened with something that he could not counter - likely the lives of loved ones from a source that he knew could, and would, make good on the threats. And it was from that point that his focus shifted and he ceased being a serious candidate as he knew he would not be allowed to win and that if he made enough noise that people close to him would have "accidents".

That is very likely the exact intent. Remember the people we are facing rely extensively on psychological/psychiatric control - "the meme is quicker than the eye". If I am correct, that he was gotten to at the time of the SC Republican Debate in the last election cycle then the entire function of this run was as a PsyOp
So, if I am right the entire point of the RP run this time was to prevent the rise of a real anti-fascist candidate. And just as everyone is beginning to develop hope that we might make a breakthrough the rug is pulled out at the psychological moment timed to prevent the rise of another candidate and to discourage the defenders of liberty.
Remember that one of the prime functions of a PsyOp is to discourage and demoralize the enemy. If you grant that the power elite regards "We The People" as the enemy it begins to make a Machiavellian sense - in a psychological way. The intent being to disrupt and demoralize the rise of a liberty movement which threatens the criminals in power.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

No, you just wanted what's best for your children, grandchildren and their children. No sin in that, my man.

Speaking for myself, I'm not looking for a leader. I don't need to be led, especially by a politician. I'm looking for someone who will look out for the interests of me and my family by upholding the Constitution of the United States in such a way that the government leaves me the hell alone and allows me to live my life with the least amount of intrusion possible.

Yeah, that's the one thing that has me wondering too, why not take it to Romnuts in Texas.
I think RP will still take it to Romney in Texas as long as he's still on the ballot. His supporters aren't ready to quit, yet.

The remaining question is how strong or how tepid will Rons support be for Romney.
From that we can gauge what Ron has gotten or will get in return.
I'm a realist (with romantic tendencies) and am in this for the long haul. While I appreciate the movement that has surface I also conclude that it is larger, spiritually, than just one man, and that is what really scares the elite. They are materialists and hence pathologically frightened by the spiritual.
I think I'll stick with my earlier guessalysis that any expression of support for Oromney will be at best tepid and perfunctory.

I get that H, but tactically, I see zero sense in today's announcement. He was on all the state ballots, and his strategy of delegate accumulation was creeping along, albeit slowly. Why????? announce it's over before Tampa???? Had he simply kept his yap shut he certainly would have garnered more delegates then he will now. I smell the stench of politics. I wish I felt differently.
