This week, Congress is considering two pieces of legislation relating to Iran. The first undermines a diplomatic solution with Iran and lowers the bar for war. The second authorizes a war of choice against Iran and begins military preparations for it. H.Res.568: Eliminating the Most Viable Alternative to War – The House is expected to vote on H.Res. 568. Read the resolution. Section (6) rejects any United States policy that would rely on efforts to contain a nuclear weapons-capable Iran. Section (7) urges the President to reaffirm the unacceptability of an Iran with nuclear-weapons capability and opposition to any policy that would rely on containment as an option in response to Iranian enrichment.

This language represents a significant shift in U.S. policy and would guarantee that talks with Iran, currently scheduled for May 23, would fail. Current U.S. policy is that Iran cannot acquire nuclear weapons. Instead, H. Res. 568 draws the “redline” for military action at Iran achieving a nuclear weapons “capability,” a nebulous and undefined term that could include a civilian nuclear program. Indeed, it is likely that a negotiated deal to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran and to prevent war would provide for Iranian enrichment for peaceful purposes under the framework of the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty with strict safeguards and inspections.

This language makes such a negotiated solution impossible. At the same time, the language lowers the threshold for attacking Iran. Countries with nuclear weapons “capability” could include many other countries like Japan or Brazil. It is an unrealistic threshold.

The Former Chief of Staff of Secretary of State Colin Powell has stated that this resolution “reads like the same sheet of music that got us into the Iraq war.” H.R. 4310: Authorizing War Against Iran and Preparing the Military for it. While H. Res. 568 undermines our diplomatic efforts and lowers the bar for war, H.R. 4310, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 begins military preparations for war. Section 1221 makes military action against Iran a U.S. policy. Section 1222 directs our armed forces to prepare for war.

I do not believe there will be war. The idea Americans will accept it is not true. There is always that tipping point, and the country is right on the edge.

Well, God willing you are right & 'Yahoo and this fellow fundi nuts, Jew and Christian, here and over there, are engaged in one huge bluff designed to bull the Iranians into submission.

While it's not characteristic of Izzy to telegraph its punches, I have the strong sense from everything I've read Iran leaders say that they are not going to back off an inch.

If the mullah state refuses to back down at all in the coming talks, Izzy must do something or lose face.

That's what has me worried.

Exactly. Israel's "air of invincibility" is one of their biggest psychological weapons. They have half of the planet intimidated into silence over their Nazi-like behavior.

I have come increasingly to despise more and more the raving psychotics who are running that shitty little state. Evil is almost too mild of a word to describe their behavior. Calculated evil comes close but it is an evil so insane as to turn the stomach of a decent caring individual. It is so repellent as to cause the weak to turn away afraid to look at the reality. Foul does not even come close as they have taken foulness to a whole new depth.

Good rant, its a damn shame the Izzy influence and the Churchian Fundy Manginas have sold our freedom and our country down the river, but I believe a great reckoning will come for them, it won't be pretty .

Thanks. Every now and then, as I force myself to look at the true depths of evil raging across our world, I simply can no longer hold back my outrage and disgust.

And I agree. The delusional Kristyun Fundamentalists are neither Christian nor fundamental. They flout openly their support of evil and call it Godliness to do the devil's bidding. They justify and excuse every crime against humanity committed by the secular Rothschild State and call it Christian as they trample upon the decency and humanity which Christ taught. They would call evil good and opposition to that evil somehow flouts their perversion of Christianity - a religion which entered this world preaching decency, honesty, and love of ones fellow man and yet they chant for death supporting torture and all manner of foul abominations. And in their perversely deluded state they think that for some strange reason that a just and loving God will raise them up to an exalted status because of their support of the foulest of evils while mouthing the right phrases which they do not practice.

Christian Zionists are not Christians. These groups actually tell their members not to talk to Jews about Jesus because it will upset them.

Remember, Hagee said Jesus never told Jews he was the Son of God nor the Messiah so they have an automatic ticket to Heaven.
