I am not aware of what browsers this happens with but it happens with FF.

At the bottom left is a reading/reporting of what sites or are being 'accessed' as you go to any website. I always see google flash on the screen while loading a page.

I am just wondering is this part of the NSA spying? Is anyone else as paranoid as I am?

You have to be quick in seeing it.

Huh! They must have erased both stories.

In any event, I don't see the counter, or whatever, here using FF 13.0.

What stories?

One is a video and the other is the home page of American Free Press.

Both are still there.

OK i saw it.

Both http://google.com and googleapis.

I'm no expert, but it looks like APIs are applications like google maps, etc. https://developers.google.com/maps/

And google uses links to other sites for their page ranking stats. Supposedly the more sites that link to you, the higher your rankings in a search.

Maybe that's because you're using google as a search engine. If you delete it from the list of search engines in firefox, it might stop doing that. You go into preferences to do that I believe.

You don't have to use a search engine to experience what this thd is abut.

Under 'Tools' I see that my AVG program has the 'Do Not Track' option going on.

I guess that's why I don't see the tracker/tracer thing that's being discussed.

Actually it is easier than that - click on the down arrow by the search engine bar in the toolbar and at the bottom of the search engine list is "Manage Search Engines", and you make any changes from there.
