Kathleen Thomas, Brandon Raub's mother A high-profile US Marine has been thrown behind bars for posting his critical views of US government on the social networking website Facebook. According to his mother Kathleen Thomas, Brandon Raub - who has served his nation in two wars - was hauled off by authorities from the FBI, Secret Service and Chesterfield County PD, the Salemnews website reported. FBI agent Sherry Grainger reportedly told Thomas her son was making “threats that were terrorist in nature”. The writer of the story on the website described the affair as “Facebook Terrorism” stuff. In reaction to her son's arrest, the decorated Marine’s mother has called into question the freedom of speech in the United States. Her remarks followed the abrupt arrest of Raub whose posts on Facebook have been under scrutiny. The case, experts say, is a flagrant indication of the US government’s strict control over social networking websites, above all Facebook. Thomas said her son was questioned about why he was writing comments critical of the government. "He basically said 'I have some disagreements with the government and share this', and they said, 'You have to go with us'," Thomas noted. She added, "He was handcuffed, not read his rights, put into a Chesterfield Police Department vehicle and taken to John Randolph Psychiatric Hospital in Hopewell, Virginia," Thomas said. KA/JR/SS

But then again, his Facebook page was reportedly private, and according to the AP newswire: "The big concern, Whitehead said, is whether government officials are monitoring citizens' private Facebook pages and detaining people with whom they disagree." In America, you can get someone locked up as insane. He doesn't need a trial. It is a serious problem. This has long been a problem in the western world. In Europe, if someone seemed crazy, in the 1800s it was a popular way to get rid of him if he was the only person in line ahead of you for inheritance (see for example, Prince Ludwig of Bavaria). In America, we had asylums with power to keep anyone who was deemed to be crazy. The administrators had a lot of power in these places, and eventually it was shown that doctors were incompetent at distinguishing sane people from insane people [wikipedia.org]. A lot of hospitals got closed at that point. In case anyone cares, here is the law [virginia.gov] that will allow him to be locked up, in case any lawyer wants to comment: a mental health professional can decide to issue a temporary detention order if "it appears ... that the person (i) has a mental illness and that there exists a substantial likelihood that, as a result of mental illness, the person will, in the near future, (a) cause serious physical harm to himself or others as evidenced by recent behavior causing, attempting, or threatening harm and other relevant information, if any, or (b) suffer serious harm due to his lack of capacity to protect himself from harm or to provide for his basic human needs, (ii) is in need of hospitalization or treatment, and (iii) is unwilling to volunteer or incapable of volunteering for hospitalization or treatment." He threatened harm, the law lets him be locked up. ColdWetDog (752185) I know everyone thinks that this is a punitive move, but at least on the face of it, the psych detention is for diagnostic purposes. We put people in this situation routinely when they are 1) an danger to themselves or others (likely the rationale here) or 2) gravely disabled (think sitting in the middle of the freeway). From the limited info presented, it may well be the most reasonable thing to do. Perhaps he's just blowing off steam. Perhaps he is having a bad day. Or perhaps he has a couple of fully auto M-16s, a couple thousand rounds of ammo, a couple of grenades and maybe some other souvenirs of the Middle East. I'm definitely opposed to the idea of "thoughtcrime", but if someone is making real threats that they're in a position to carry out (and I'm guessing an ex-Marine is more qualified than most to do so) it makes sense to step in before real harm is done. But that's also contingent on us being able to actually make a realistic distinction between blowing off steam and actually planning violence. We tend to be overcautious here, but that's societal trends at work.

You will be "labeled" at a government "labeling factory" and deemed mentally ill, your life will be destroyed, your business bankrupted, your brain scrambled, your credibility shattered. You will be kidnapped and tortured with brain damaging toxic chemical prescription poisons, called medicines, until you confess that you are "mentally ill" or never see the light of day again, as long as you live.
Overcautious equals paranoia. It is the FBI, the Secret Service, and the Local County police who are "overcautious," paranoid, and thus "mentally ill."
I listened to that interview today also with Raub & Kokesh. Ive never heard him speak before, but Raub seemed particiularly subdued. He claims he's not drugged, im not so sure. he seemed extremely passive. weird, no? i also had time to go over Raub's facebooks posts. its like a summary of whats posted here. the only thing that stands out is that he was planning to do something got more imminent, and thats apparently when/why they picked him up. I highly suggest reading his facebook posts. very interesting. On December 23, 2011, he posted "Fuck the New World Order. I'm bringing it down." but he got more specific as 2012 went on. he posted that his actions, vague as they may be, involved among other things the specifics of quote 'severing heads'; and his RECENT posts in august indicated that his actions were imminent. Also, why did facebook corporation leave up all his supposedly controversial and threatening posts? Guess what. facebook corporation does not leave up posts that violate a law. facebook removes profiles of people involved in crimes relating to their posts. why is this one still there? Either is is some plant, a decoy, to gague reaction of his incarceration in a nuthouse, or he genuinely did go over the bin and posted that he was ''gonna'' do whatever. If the story is as presented on face value, i think they would have a hard time convicting him, which is why he was only put in a nuthouse and not in a jail . i dont think hes been charged with anything. He's too intelligent and articulate to be "mentally ill," and he's absolutely right on all counts. Could it be, that Brandon J. Raub knows too much? Such as embarrassing information to the Government and the military which he hasn't posted on Facebook, or perhaps confidential info which he actually did post, and has been censored and deleted.?

I think his friend got it right. The PTB are walking a fine line between trying to glorify the military [need the cannon fodder for "Israel"] and discredit it at the same time. Remember, veterans are now considered "extremists, and terrorists" according to such towering groups as the ADL and the SPLC. Veterans who have fought for "freedom" and returned only to realize the jackboots have taken over, are a real threat to the PTB. Yes, I did read those facebook postings that were saved as screenshots and reposted by indy media outlets. But what I am saying is that in addition to those scant ones above, I logged onto facebook and read many, many many more older facebook postings direct from the source, not second or 3rd hand. in their entirety, the posts are interesting and the topics addressed are much different than whats posted here, other than the "severing heads" part. his lawyer now claims that his posts were part of some video game called illuminate, and a judge released him from the nuthouse.
