Assuming that many of you are still believers of the current political orthodoxy that China will soon rule the world I have great news for you. It isn't going to happen in your life time and probably never.

What is the time difference between there and here?

Thanks.

Do any of you have any theories yet on why after 5,000 years of history and 65 years of The New China , they are still a developing country? Do any of you have any theories yet on why there are still so many Chinese people in poverty in the second biggest economy in the world?

I think the answer, in part, goes back to Chairman Mao and his bloody purges that killed, what, 66 million of his so-called "fellow countrymen", including the best and brightest professionals in China.

In addition, life is very cheap in China. Witness the way dogs and cats are abused and tortured.

Seen any of these "special" vans rolling through your area?

My point exactly !!! You have a keen sense of the obvious x - 15 and not just the merely obvious but the incredibly obvious. lol Why can't most young people understand that Communism is very dangerous? Why do they think it will be any different the next time? Nice to hear from you again. Are you having a fun day?

I've long tired of trying to point out to people that the Chi-Coms are not our "trading partners", rather it's a deal with the devil we know all too well. I would cut that nation off yesterday if I were king and sink any of their submarines that dared to surface in the middle of our Pacific fleets.

Here's the REAL face of China:

Some of the carnage from Tiannemen Square that allegedly "didn't happen":

What a contrast, the people knew what country represented real freedom :

I agree completely !!! It amazes me how willfully blind Americans in general and our leaders in particular choose to be all for the benefit of " cheap " labor and " cheap " , and I mean that in the most derogatory of ways, goods. We're digging our own graves with the shovel of Free Trade which was made in China by the way.

If you have a photobucket account, just click on the "HTML code" for a picture then right-click on this comment box. Here's a list of HTML codes, hope this helps:

despite the fact that china is run by evil commies, it's surprsing how in many ways there are more freedoms than we have here. ever try to buy an amtrack or greyhound ticket cash, with no ID? Or go down a non-surveilled street with no seatbelt?

Try buying a gun in China, that'll put you in the hotseat for sure. You'll have little snitches watching your house day/night, if the Commies don't just arrest you outright. Little freedoms that don't have future consequences for the ruling party cost nothing.

I also say that as soon as India , Russia and Brazil get their acts together they are going to steal all the business that China stole from the Western countries and particularly America. Those three countries are going to use China's tactics against her. China is going to find out very soon that an economy based solely on exports and cheap labor can't sustain itself for long. There is always somebody that will do it cheaper and I'd certainly trust any of the three of India , Russia or Brazil to do it better. I think most people would. Do you agree?

I was working with a some Lybian engineers before Ghaddafi was bumped off. They were telling me that the Chinese have the reputation in Africa for building stuff fast and cheap but quality always suffers. "If you want it up tomorrow, the Chinese will build it, but if you want it to last, hire an American contractor." That's what they told me.

Trust me you can't buy a train ticket here in China without an I.D. either. I do know what you mean though . Americans find it very strange when I tell them that the Chinese in many ways are freer than us. It's true though. I call them like I see them.

it was interesting in the sense that we (rightfully) deride the commies yet the average american doesnt mind that they have more freedom to travel anonymously (a benchmark of liberty) than we do.

Stay out of their business and they'll treat you amazingly well. In spite of how much I hate the Commies I've managed to carve out a very good life here , much better than what I'd have in America now at my current Chronologically Advanced state. China can indeed be a fun and amazing place.

x - 15. I don't know where you are getting your info but the average Chinese has no right to travel outside of their own Province without an I.D.and Visa. Chinese mainlanders can't even go to Hong Kong for instance. On the other hand China has no T.S.A.. Flying is a joy in China. Their airport security is very professional , effective, courteous and fast.
