In its latest annual report for fiscal year 2011 to 2012, Planned Parenthood reveals that it performed 333,964 abortions in 2011 – a record year for the organization.
According to annual reports, the organization performed 332,278 abortions in 2009, 329,445 in 2010, making the total number of abortions in three years to 995,687.
Planned Parenthood reported receiving a record $542 million in taxpayer funding, according to a Susan B. Anthony List analysis of the report, in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements. The amount is 45 percent of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue.
“While government subsidies to Planned Parenthood have reached an all time high, so too has the number of lives ended by this profit-driven abortion business,” SBA List’s President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement. “Destroying nearly one million children in three years is not health care and does not reflect a concern for vulnerable women and girls.”
Contraceptive services at Planned Parenthood have dropped by 12 percent since 2009, and cancer screening & prevention services have dropped by 29 percent.

It seems odd that cancer screenings should have dropped. Odd also that contraception services have also droppped. Maybe more people are planning on having kids. Let's hope it's white people. ;)

OK. I'm probably in the minority @ 4um who sees abortion as a necessary evil in modern decadent times. Sex has now been propagandized as a basic need like taking in food and water - there's nothing special about sex these days. And also there's the matter of how many prospective adoptive parents exist to take in all the mentally physically damaged infants born due to their mothers' abuse of drugs and alcohol during pregnancy - I'd suggest not many of those prospective adoptive parents exist for special needs babies if they were were born and not aborted. I suspect that damaged fetuses represent the majority of abortions done. To weep over the lost lives is a bit hypocritical - would the same weepers adopt or foster special needs babies?
However, I am alarmed that according to Planned Parenthood stats, demand for abortions are increasing while demand for contraceptives are decreasing.
So has abortion replaced contraceptive use in our society because abortions are so readily available? If that's the case, I would be very disappointed in women.
Unlike women who pride themselves that abortion is their right to choose (murder?), I'm a woman who says women should make smart choices about their bodies before life conceived either thru use of contraceptives like the pill or IUD or making the choice to keep their legs closed. Apart from rape, there is no excuse for women implying that abortion represents a significant right of "choice" over their bodies. Abortion is chosen if a woman has failed to exercise other choices about her body that are readily available and at her disposal - therefore abortion is not something a woman should take pride in using. It represents failure.

Many lower income minorities have utilized the services of planned parenthood to ensure smaller families for what ever their reasons were..... perhaps. In all frankness I consider the matter to be one of entire female domain. I do so because in all reality that is who controls the debate. Unilaterally. If a man cares even one iota about his child to be it helps to come to terms that your partner could hold her breath until she brain damaged the baby. She could punch herself. She could eat or drink strange lethal stuff behind your back. The choice is completely and unilaterally a womans for those nine months. I think it should be only women that have a voice with a choice in that debate.
As for my opinion on the matter. I dislike it but remain prochoice. Rapes, mis carriage complications, accidents (like not knowing one is pregnant and then doing things the pregnant should not to)....Life happens. A woman should not have to die if she doesn't have to. The doctors job is to save life. And a desperate woman will take desperate means especially under bad circumstances... she might even consider going to very bad doctors...Being regulated at least imposes standards.. standards that can be revied and adjusted if need be?
The organization could be run alot better thats for sure... and their are some over zealous freaks in their midst that is true... that seems to work both ways though... I can't tell you the number of organizations that could not help me get pre natal care for the un registered wife but they all offered to help adopt him out if we did not want him. No thanks. Planned parenthood couldn't help us for shit either. We helped ourselves to all the info we had online. ... We probably did better relying on ourselves

The despicable assault on the helpless, with the aid of the Obama administration, is even more powerful than it has been heretofore. It’s time to take the gloves off and show young women what actually happens to the babies inside them. Even if we cannot yet pass legislation outlawing the procedure, we must pass legislation that requires abortion clinics to show ultrasounds to women about to have abortions.

Seems as though they could do thopse planned murders for free and afford to not be reimbursed by gov't programs such as Medicaid. ;)

The purpose of abortion and birth control, according to Margaret Sanger, was to kill off blacks. As I understand it most abortions are by black women anyway.
