As most of you know, I haven't had the time to participate in or monitor 4um as I once did. That's not going to change. I will not be able to read every post every day. Truthfully, when I created this forum, it was never my intention to be a heavy handed administrator and it was always my hope that participants appreciate that, respect it, and, thereby, exercise self control.

For the most part, that has been the case--until lately.

The animosity and incivility and accusations displayed towards one another has become almost intolerable to me. It's caused me to feel ashamed that I am the owner of this forum. I am actually considering pulling the plug as I cannot see any value in letting this continue.

I would like to know your thoughts and opinions. Subscribe to *4um Admin News*

Hang in there, Christine, I like to visit your site daily and I hope to continue to do so. I really do appreciate the time and expense you spend here.

As I commented on another thread I would really really hate to see you pull the plug.

Personally, I would not take the vituperation of some to reflect general attitudes and behaviors. I think most people here are very civil, with a healthy dash of insouciance, so it does not reflect badly upon you. It reflects only upon those who step beyond the bounds of "agree to disagree" propriety and debate.

I hope you're kidding about that.

It would be very sad indeed to see this forum go away as there are many fine posters here who have great minds and ideas. We are not always going to agree on what each other has to say. No two minds think alike. I definitely agree about the uncivil behavior on this forum though. How can this forum attract new posters without quickly losing them? Some of these new posters are from highly educated backgrounds too. I came on this forum because I was really hoping that there were better informed posters here about things and especially those who have an independent way of thinking. Compared to other forums where if you don't speak the right things, or your politics are not agreeable with the rest of the forum (like FreeRepublic and Libertypost), this forum is by far the better of them both. I don't believe in homogenized thinking or groups. I avoid them like a contagious disease!

I think trolls are being paid, or else they wouldn't be here. We know for a fact that Israel does pay people to troll Internet boards. I think the goal is not to get us to stop talking, but to stop lurkers from lurking here. They don't want people to read the stuff we are posting about false flag events and the push for the invasion of nations that are of no threat to us. They don't want our numbers growing so they hire trolls to make it seem like we are nuts, when in fact it is just the trolls acting nuts pretending to be one of us.

Yes, your honor, that was a joke. Note the quote marks - it was a statement Rodney King made. I expect people to be boisterous, irascible, caustic, bitchy, and just all around ornery. However, there have to be limits somewhere. Absolutes are unobtainable so you are never going to have an absolutely polite and "reasonable" forum, but within limits it can be very fun.

Please don't.

I'm a new poster here but we used to fight Badeye on Ell Pee before you and Neil left. You might even remember my screen name if I could remember it.

I've lurked here since you opened this place. 4um makes a difference (on the good side!) even though maybe sometimes it seems not.

There are great people here, sometimes everyone goes 'round the bend, eh?

In fact, maybe think about expanding the site, with updated framework so it can resize to phones and tablets and some links to help you pay for the ongoing costs. Lots of things to do to expand awareness.

Edit to add: I'm fairly competent in Joomla (linked above), and I'd be happy to volunteer some time to help upgrade, if you so choose. Joomla is free, and it has an integrated forum.

Is there a way to add Off-Topic and "Mudslinging" vote counters instead, so that you won't have to be bothered with PMs about that -- just look at those numbers for troublespot escalations? At LibertyForum, if a thread went off topic, the part that did was sometimes moved to its own thread. Bickering to excess was, iirc, sometimes moved to a "Cage-Match" subsection off the main board so as not to clutter up the Latest Comments area. Temporary time-out suspensions rather than banishment without reprieve might be something that could be an incentive for more civility. Would be a better alternative, imo, than Freedom4um being closed down or entrusted to other controllers (as LibertyForum was) who might abuse their moderator and database access powers or be motivated to cause other mischief here: using multiple screen names for deceptive baiting and such, for example.

Edited a typo.

Dear Christine,

As other astute posters have seen, the extra high troll noise is due to the imminence of the SHTF, nothing more.

WE ARE GOING TO NEED communication clusters MORE THAN EVER when the down shift occurs. Assuming that the internet itself is not taken down, we will soon need 4Um and every other site not fatally corrupted to help organize grass roots cooperation amidst the increased chaos.

First gut reaction to your post?

Start terminating certain aliases/moniker/avatars!

Better to pluck out an offending eye than to lose the entire being. Cut off the paid pin heads and save the 4Um community!

Sounds like a worth-while trade to me....

All of us could provide you with a short list of troll aliases, those multiple personalities entertaining us with their trolling posts containing prime examples of the following:
1) Destructive intent
2) Uncivil behavior - non-existent manners
3) Deliberate lowering of the level of discourse
4) Deliberate distraction/obfuscation of important truths by regressive, immature, morally retarded self-indulgence.
5) Deliberate derailing of threads whose topics have the potential to expose the most of the emperor's bare ass!

Perhaps you are reluctant to go there, to the point of actively disabling abusers of your forum, out of concern that some tiny tortured souls (whether they are merely sincerely unconscious dupes pinioned by the MEdiaMatrix or terminally sleazy, paid trolls) might try to guilt you.

"Censorship!" Gasp!

Any meme that would attempt to shame you into the non-exercise of your rights as host, must be identified as coming from massive hypocrisy, a sub routine of the implanted self-defeating mind control, tying us into knots of indecision while the global miscreants slaughter children for fun.....

How about re-framing this into simple "party host" duty?

When some moral retard is stealing fun and life force from the other party guests, it is time to simply send the offenders away, no hesitation.

If you take that road, we will all help you to identify the new gophers which pop up; trolls taking new aliases.

It will be amusing to leverage the depth perception present here to identify the bad actors as they attempt to slip through the blockade of civil intercourse.

Whatever you do decide, you have the gratitude of all of us who have enjoyed the information exchange and the shelter from the storm of lies, here in the bosom of 4Um-land!

Thank you Christine!

Anger? As a first reaction to get your a$$ moving, once you see through the Media Matrix and set yourself free from your lifelong mind control collar. Sustainable? Not long enough to screen your intention to be free from the control freaks monitoring all comms! Our ultimate weapon is laughter and amused detachment at the folly of the would-be emperors while their plans evaporate! Fear mongers HATE it when the FEAR card doesn’t work. The humiliation of being seen as merely a naked ape is THEIR big fear. Laugh the bastards off the stage! Tell your friends that we can build a real civilization from the ruins of the totalitarian game!

Well, we haven't seen this type of discussion in quite a while. Maybe it's overdue? hehe

The sentiment is certainly understandable. I was a real idealist back when LP was started up. I figured most people had a thirst for the truth, and would get a good sense of satisfaction in discussing points and counterpoints. That gave me a lot of satisfaction in creating the software. Well, that and knowing how much dough FR rakes in, if I'm going to be real honest.

But I'm not so much of an idealist anymore. What's the truth, Christine? The plain truth is that most of us are pretty well set in what we believe, and "discussing" topics on a web forum isn't going to change that. That includes me and most all of us here. This forum, and all others, are also very impersonal. We don't talk about things face to face. No, instead everyone is merely talking to their computer screens. And it's easy to be rude to a computer screen.

I know, no big revelation there.

It's just not a substitute for having a big reunion somewhere where we all get to see what we all look like, in person, face to face, where most of us would be much more cordial.

I guess there may be benefits to you that are now taken for granted. Maybe think about them?

There's always the Bozo Filter List in Setup, and there's the Ignore Thread on each new post which I use liberally when fellow members go 'round the bend on each other.

I don't use the bozo filter, but often use the 'Ignore Thread' function, especially when people start their pissing matches in a quest for "the truth."

The truth has been outlawed with the advent of P.C. and is irrevocably extinct. There's not much point in searching for something that no longer exists. JFK, 9-11, the illegal jewWars, SandyHoax, Boston, etc. can all be written off to the JIZ infiltration of our government. Easy-peasy. The details will not be forthcoming (I do wish I knew how they turned three skyscrapers into powder, though. I could make a killing in the demolition trade).

That being said, there may be some merit to having someone else moderate the forum. I nominate Loddy. When Lod feels the need say something to someone who's out of line, they're way out of line. Never seen him make a bad call.

Also when a poster throws a hissy-fit demanding that their account be deleted, it should be done without discussion or question and their IP blocked and all posts deleted, if that is doable without a bunch of bullshit/nonsense (wasted time). There's nothing keeping anyone from just walking away. If they're so fucking unhappy with this website, then just leave, anything else is just drama.

Any poster deliberately posting disinformation on behalf of a foreign government (whether paid or not) to subvert the United States or the Constitution, should be banned without explanation or discussion. There's only one here that I'm aware of.

Sorry about the nomination for ban hammer duty, Loddy. I know that you probably don't want anything to do with that, but that's what makes you a perfect fit. Anybody volunteering for that job has an agenda and should be automatically excluded.

Maybe for older topics, but not newer ones. At first I was thinking that talk about the Boston bombing using actors faking injuries was crazy talk. Then I saw the evidence and based on that I don't think it is crazy talk at all anymore. It doesn't make much logical sense to use actors there, but then again it doesn't make much logical sense for people to want to rule the world and kill billions in wars either when they already have more money then they could spend in their lifetimes and the highest standard of living possible for any humans on planet Earth maybe ever, but they desire it nevertheless.
