Mostly the talk is about 4.0 to 5.0 earthquakes. Therefore, it is much ado about nothing. Most people are never aware of a 4.0 earthquake and a 5.0 will only do minor damage to structures poorly designed.
An 8.0 earthquake will do real damage but they are 10,000 more powerful than a 4.0 earthquake and 1,000 times more powerful than a 5.0 earthquake.
