It's lethal. It's tough as nails. It's the most copied assault rifle pattern in the world.

It's the Kalashnikov-pattern rifle (or "AK") and now President Obama has, with the stroke of his infamous pen, outlawed the importation of AK's from Russia as part of our sanctions-spanking.

The "panic buying" has already begun because soon, you won't be able to get one of these rifles.

In fact, any red-blooded American who was in the ordering process is on a "list" that won't be able to take possession as long as sanctions are in place - maybe even permanently.

Frankly I'd much rather have my AR-15 anyway - in my opinion, it's a far better rifle.

But this latest government move just goes to show you how they're cracking down on assault rifles -- and TRACKING those who have them!

One way around this is to build your own, "secret" AR-15 -- and you can do this perfectly legally!

Here's a video on how to do it:

How To Build An "Undercover AR-15"... http://mcs-mag.com/s/underground-ar-15

How to build a secret AR-15

By building your own AR-15 (pretty much anyone can do this in your garage and some ingenuity), you can avoid being on "the list" that so many Americans are concerned about.

And if you think the government isn't tracking who owns which firearms, you might be surprised.

You gotta be smarter than the average government desk jockey and knowing how to build your own "undercover arsenal" is a great way to keep your guns under the radar. http://mcs-mag.com/s/underground-ar-15

The AR-15 is not as rugged or reliable. When it works it has better accuracy, but even when it does the rounds don't have as much mass thus don't inflict as much damage. They have a shorter effective range due to that fact.

Since I'm not in a desert (yet), or a jungle, an AR suits me fine, then there's the '06, .308, .214, .416, and FiveSeveN if more is needed.

As a friend's wife asked, "Do we need 10K rounds, or just 2?"

Great point, I thought...

Using blanks in boot camp (which was at Parris Island, SC), my M-16 jammed after a couple of shots as I sat in my foxhole. It was mostly dirt in the area, but was sort of sandy dirt. I took the damn thing apart (at night), cleaned it, and put it back together at least 5 or 6 times, it still wouldn't shoot.

Good thing it was only against imaginary bad guys, I would have been dead in real life.

I currently have an AK as well as a FN-FAL, where the FN-FAL fires .308 or 7.62 mm and has an adjustable gas setting to fine tune the action to compensate for different ammo. I like it a lot.

Amen - the FAL will do whatever needs doing.

NATO ammo gets heavy if you have to move it around on foot but if your AR jams doesn't matter how much extra you've got. FN gets my vote.

Since I won't be bugging out anywhere, it'll be an Alamo scene here.

I have a Belgian made FN-FAL which was once owned by a Marine Officer. It has a nickel plated receiver. ;)
