My ringtone is soothing 'Chimes' and my text alert is 'Bamboo', none of that garish and offensive music that I hear blasting from so many people's phones.

Yes, it happens to me and a lot of people -- the exact same sensation as when the phone vibrates! Or it did happen to me until (I'm not making this up) I got a smartphone or thereabouts.
Some report hearing the ring tone when it's not there, but I do find that hard to believe.
