House of Representatives passes resolution against Russia

The US House of Representatives has overwhelmingly approved a document which strongly condemns Moscow's actions against its neighbors, calling them a policy of aggression.

Passed with 411-10 votes, the resolution slams Russia’s “continuing political, economic, and military aggression” against Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova and the “continuing violation of their sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

"The US, Europe and our allies must aggressively keep the pressure on Mr. Putin to encourage him to change his behavior," Rep. Adam Kinzinger, the resolution's sponsor, said.

The resolution calls for Russia to stop supporting local militias in eastern Ukraine and for the cancellation of Crimea’s decision to join Russia. In addition, it calls on Moscow to withdraw its troops which the US claims are in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

The House calls on President Barack Obama to provide Ukraine with defense equipment and training.

"Ukraine is clearly in need of urgent military assistance," Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said as quoted by The Hill.

The resolution also urges NATO members and US allies to suspend military cooperation with Russia. Addressing Obama, the House urged him to review the readiness of US and NATO armed forces under the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE).

The lawmakers agreed that the president and State Department should also find a way to “distribute news and information” in Russian to countries with Russian-speaking populations.

The lawmakers specified that the resolution was targeting Putin and his policy, but not all Russian people.

The resolution follows Putin’s speech to Federal Assembly made on Thursday, where he criticized the “deterrence policy” conducted against Russia by other states.

The deterrence policy was not invented yesterday, it has been always conducted towards our country, for decades, if not centuries,” Putin noted. “Every time somebody considers Russia is becoming too powerful and independent, such instruments are turned on immediately.

He mentioned that the US has been manipulating foreign relations of Russia’s neighbors, adding that “sometimes you don’t even know to whom it is better to talk to: the governments of certain countries or directly with their American patrons.

The relations between the two states have got colder in the past decade and will deteriorate even more following the adoption of the H. Res. 758, warns former Republican Dennis Kucinich.

NATO encirclement, the US-backed coup in Ukraine, an attempt to use an agreement with the European Union to bring NATO into Ukraine at the Russian border, a US nuclear first-strike policy, are all policies which attempt to substitute force for diplomacy,” he explained.

House should immediately STFU and deal with the myriad of problems at home.

Once again congress has proved they are fools and aggressive war mongers. With them the facts don't matter. Certainly Putin has been very reasonable and restrained. However, that should not be interpreted as weakness.

Imagine if Russia financed a coup in Mexico and blamed it on USA aggression. Regardless, war with Russia and China will lead to nuclear war and the average Russian and average Chinese is more intelligent than the average American. Therefore, their nuclear weapons are not inferior to ours.

In any event, that is a war we cannot win. Perhaps we will destroy Russia, China, Iran and other countries but certainly most people in the USA will cease to exist.

Imagine if Russia financed a coup in Mexico and blamed it on USA aggression.

That's exactly what I've said to people I've conversed with. I've added to that, "what if the new Mexican government launched a war of genocide against those who didn't agree with the new government and then blamed the US for any civilian casualties caused by that new government".

It's hard to understand how the majority of our "representatives" aren't bright enough to see that WE are the aggressors in regards to Russia and the Ukraine.

In any event, that is a war we cannot win. Perhaps we will destroy Russia, China, Iran and other countries but certainly most people in the USA will cease to exist.

In a full-scale nuclear war, the only living things left on earth would be the cockroaches.

That includes those elite who have managed to scurry to underground facilities.

It wouldn't surprise that at least some of those problems here at home are simply there as diversions to keep people from knowing about what they are doing over in Ukraine and how they are committing acts of war against Russia.

It's an orgy of anti-Christian ideologies and an ideological feast for fools.

Yet many of them claim to be "Christians". They are more than simple fools, they are absolute hypocrites and if anything, pure evil.

F'ing insanity.

To question is to value the ideal of truth more highly than the loyalties to nation, religion, race, or ideology.

F'ing insanity.

To put it mildly. The ONLY thing that I can see is that they must have developed some super duper weapon and they want to test it against Russia.

Nothing else makes sense.

UNLESS of course they ARE trying to eradicate most of the world's population.

Possibly a bit of both.

Well that would certainly explain their support of fascists and neo-nazis in Ukraine such as Red Sector and Svoboda.

Thing is, do they REALLY think they can win a war against Russia?

Yet many of them claim to be "Christians". They are more than simple fools, they are absolute hypocrites and if anything, pure evil.

The number of so-called "Christians" that listen to ignorant and ill-taught pastors and read books by the same to me remains astonishing. Just as in most facets of life there is an unfortunate vast minority of people capable of true independent thinking and reasoning. It seems that people would far more side with the if a billion people are doing/thinking it than it can't be wrong line of thinking that of clear cogent thinking that departs from pre-ordained wives tales and fairy tales.

Meanwhile, they ignore Scripture here and elsewhere in favor of socio-political "christianity," which is a far cry from Biblical Christianity.

2 Tim 2:4 No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

We have the exact opposite in our country, a nation full of so-called "Christians" the word their church constitutions any way that they please in direct contradiction to sound Biblical teachings, often the fruits of a democratic church process. Others teach more from books written by people that hale from seminaries that their pastors come from and from which they take their "independent" "Biblical ideologies" from than they do from any credible version of the Bible itself. When the Bible is juxtaposed in contrast to faulty teachings, they default to those books rather than the Bible.

How this can possibly be construed as anything besides anti-Christianity is beyond me. I would argue that it is even more misleading than Satanism itself although it is clearly a tool of Satanic methodologies in misleading people. It is unfortunate that most people do not recognize that this is brought to us by the Synagogue of Satan more so than via any other means in this country anyway.

No one has ever won a war against Russia, including the US.

That is how they became the largest country in the world, expansionism by force.

Never trust a Russian, your life depends on it.

I'm sure more than a handful have learned to "never trust a neocon or a neo- nazi, your life depends on it".

Russia is NOT expanding. NATO and the US on the other hand are swallowing up former Soviet Republics, by force if need be. Look up Kosovo and Serbia for an example.

US puppet regimes in places like Georgia think they can attack Russia with impunity, thing is, the US doesn't back up its inflamatory rhethoric and provocations when Russia decides to stand up for its sovereignty.

Under Boris Yeltsin Russia was in shambles, economically and militarily. Putin has rebuilt Russia to a vibrant nation with a growing economy and a military more than capable of defending the nation.

That is why the US wishes to subdue Russia, as the grand masters who run the show want a uni-polar world where everything revolves around DC, London, Brussels, and Tel Aviv.

They see a renewed Russia, one which does not dance to their tune, as a threat.

For one who views himself as a master geopolitican, I find it sort of amusing that you can't see that.

The Russian economy has seen tremendous growth since Putin has been president.

I haven't seen anything in the last year that would confirm your assertions on the state of Russia's economy. That shown on the graphs you include in your latest response are not from recent activity. Just within the last day there appears several articles refuting what you claim.

A few hours ago, Bloomberg News reported on the “economic pain” spreading throughout Russia. The authors report “Russia’s benchmark Micex index (INDEXCF) has plunged 7.8 percent in the past three days, while yields on corporate dollar debt surged an average 1.65 percentage points last week to 9.66 percent, the highest since 2009, JPMorgan Chase & Co. indexes show.” They further state “The ruble has tumbled 25 percent over the past two months, extending this year’s slide to 39 percent, the worst performance among 24 emerging-market currencies tracked by Bloomberg.” The article includes information on the looming recession, the oil collapse, how retailers are being squeezed, and surging inflation. See: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-12-08/russia-pain-spreads-to-stock-and-bond-markets-as-ruble-plunges.html

From Dubai, in the Gulf News, comes a report on “Russia’s bleak economic picture”, stating that “The rouble trouble afflicting Russia is but one consequence of Vladimir Putin’s dismal charting of Russia’s future.” The author includes statements from The Economist (a British journal), The Chicago Tribune (a U.S. newspaper), The Guardian (a British newspaper) and the Indian Express (an English-language Indian daily newspaper) for confirmation of the Russian economy. See: http://gulfnews.com/opinions/columnists/russia-s-bleak-economic-picture-1.1423869

I'm sure you can find positive reports in news coming out of Iran, but the truth of those reports are quite suspect.

Sir Lod...

Consider this...

Regardless of outward political machinations that grab our daily headlines, there is always an undercurrent in play that is not seen nor shared with the masses. What we see on stage actually masks what is going on back stage, out of sight and hearing.

Remember, World War II started with the invasion of Poland, by Germany....AND RUSSIA....

When the US embargoed oil to Japan, an act of war, it actually took Japanese pressure off...RUSSIA...

Taking one current event out of basic context very often gives us a wrong conclusion.

If we left Europe, Russia would waltz to the English Channel, BUT THEN WHAT.

If we wanted to we could bring Putin down, all we want is to keep Russia in check LAND WISE, in their cage, just as we are doing to China.

Well sure, AFTER our "leaders" pull out the stops in an attempt to inflict financial damage to the Russian economy, and in cahoots with Saudi Arabia drastically cut the price of oil, the Russian economy has faltered somewhat.

But that is in direct correlation to ACTS OF WAR against Russia, which she may well decide to retaliate against.

On the other hand, not only has the Russian economy grown and prospered under President Putin, it has transformed from a corrupt broken system which benefitted a handful of oligarchs and their western henchmen, to a system which has raised the standard of living for all Russians.

That the United States can inflict damage and pain to Russians is not in debate. Thing is, do we all wish to see what consequences befall us for doing so, just to benefit our OWN oligarchs who wish to dominate the entire world?

NO nation can simply declare itself dictator of the world and get away with it forever. Look at what happened to Hitler's Germany for instance.

Are you THAT naïve Cyni? Do you not see the HUGE coincidence of the sharp drop in oil prices at a time when the west is trying its best to hurt the Russian economy to bring about "regime change" in Russia? That the Russian economy is closely tied to the price of oil, and that artificially dropping oil prices is the best way to hurt Russia?

Thing is, if there IS a "regime change" in Russia it'd be the result of a VASTLY destabilizing revolution, or the result of the assassination of President Putin.

The Russian military would most likely launch an all out nuclear attack against the west for instigating such a regime change, is that what you'd like to see?

Firstly it is not adventurism nor interference.

World leadership was thrust upon on the US post WWII.

All of Europe and Asia were prostrate, exhausted, the US could have ruled the world with ease, dictate terms to the entire planet. We did not.

Instead we fed our enemies, including Russia, indebted ourselves to put the world back on its feet.

One refuses to consider history at their own peril.

Firstly it is not adventurism nor interference.

World leadership was thrust upon on the US post WWII.

Bullshit.

We've plotted the murder and assassination of democratically elected leaders when it suited the corporate interests which control our government.

In those nations we've subjugated and placed puppet dictators in the place of freely elected leaders, we've trained death squads and taught "security forces" inhuman methods of torture and interrogation, passing on that which was learned from Nazi doctors who experimented on human subjects.

We've destroyed infrastructure, stolen resources, pillaged, and raped nations whom were weak and unable to resist our might.

But in reality we didn't WIN any of those wars, hell, we couldn't even defeat HALF a tiny nation such as North Vietnam or North Korea.

Yet we wish to make the LARGEST nation on this planet, Russia, tremble in their boots because people like YOU say they should.

Perhaps you'll get your wish soon, but not the trembling in the boots part. I'm talking about your wish to see those "beautiful" mushroom clouds.

1.1 Excessive criticism of oneself: stirring accounts of our heroic history have given way to an era of self-flagellation.

I can only say, I was there, long afore WWII, during and since.

World power vacuums CANNOT exist, if one cannot or will not consider such, their perspective of geo/politics is flawed.

yet who thinks he knows it all.

There can be no intelligent discussion on a personal basis.

Have a good day.

Hope you have time to think about everything we said. Reflection on the facts I presented might change your world view, or it might not. At least I tried.

... that is in direct correlation to ACTS OF WAR against Russia, which she may well decide to retaliate against.

Russia and the U.S. have been meddling in each other's business as far back as the Civil War. Perhaps you can find some answers to their's and our madness by acquainting yourself with that which history has recorded about such events.

Unfortunately, most Americans have been asleep at the wheel for so long that the same evil bastards that ruined Russia are plying their trade here ... and both Putin and obummer think they are capable of ruling the world. When you look closer, you see mere pawns on the same chess board.

Modern day Russia has not taken any hostile actions against us or anyone else. It is those madmen who drive the hostilities of THIS nation which are lighting to fuse to WWIII.

Cynicom: What race or those people?

FormerLurker: The eastern area of Ukraine used to be part of Russia, so those people are mostly Russian.

‘Crimea cradle of Russian Christianity’: Key quotes from Putin’s meeting with historians

for Russians – and I mean the ethnically Russian part of our multinational people, the Christian Russian people – [Crimea] is a sacred place. In Crimea[,] Chersonesus Prince Vladimir [Sviatoslavich the Great] was baptized, and then he converted Russia. The original baptismal font of Russia is there.”

The role that historians play in shaping a country’s perception of itself and its image abroad was the focus of the discussion. They are the ones responsible for providing facts and reasoning, when somebody wants to put a spin on historical events for some political gains today, Putin said.

He added that Poland, which holds a grudge against Russia for sending troops simultaneously with Germany and partitioning Poland – a result of a secret protocol of the German-Soviet treaty that divided Eastern Europe into spheres of influence – should recall how Warsaw previously profited from Nazi aggression.

“They accuse Soviet Union of dividing Poland. Well, what did Poland do when the Germans entered Czechoslovakia? It took part of Czechoslovakia. That’s what it did. And then they got a hockey puck in their own goal,” Putin said.

He also recalled the infamous comments by then-British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who promised “peace for our time” to Britons after signing the Munich Agreement, a deal under which Germany, Italy, France and Britain agreed that the Nazis would attack Czechoslovakia with impunity.

That statement is beyond comprehension by any sane, intelligent person, especially those that lived thru the times.

Not worthy of any refuting.

You or anyone else would be at a loss to name but ONE hostile action of the Russian Federation.

Go ahead and prove me wrong, show me how smart you are Cyni.

Not worthy of any refuting.

It's like saying it's "not worthy of refuting" that the earth revolves around the sun, because you CAN'T refute it.

And BTW Cyni, I said the RUSSIAN FEDERATION, NOT the former Soviet Union which ceased to exist over two decades ago.

The Russian Federation is a democratic society, and is a different country with a different constitution and a different set of laws than the former.

Your blaming of the new republic for the old republic's misdeeds is like blaming the United States for what the British did during the Colonial days in North America.

So go ahead and show me how the Russian Federation has committed any acts of aggression towards anyone.
