Hmm. I wonder who will be tasked with giving the boot to small government, freedom-loving posters who refuse to toe the Republican line during election season.

I read somewhere that the foul neocon and Israel-first skank known as outdamnedspot might be taking over the site.

If so she'll turn it into a Ted Cruz porn site

She didn't do everything right and many of us found her objectionable. Still, I can't help but to think who among us is without sin. And now she is gone. God rest her soul.

Subtle understatement. That was a nice dedication there too. Shall we mentally join hands and sing Goldi to the promised land next? I'm in, but I get to pick the song.

Who knows...death may be when the party really begins....might be preferable to a lonely life in a condo with only a confined cat and a few strangers on the internet to care.

Maybe some one could venture into Alaska....or the Log Cabin site....and persuade Yukie to do the deed.

That's relatively young. Do you suspect a disgruntled banned LP poster snuck inside the condo, succeeded in diverting the guard cat, and gave her a heart attack?

I have no idea what happened, only hope that she didn't have a stroke or something like that and died a slow death.

From the sysadmin of LP:

At the end of the day, here is a summary of where we are:

Goldi (Sally) passed away some time relatively shortly before November 13th in her condo. She apparently has no living next-of-kin, at least none that have yet been found. This being the case she is being handled by the county, and the matter is in the hands of the Major Cases Unit of the Sheriff's department.

No personal friends in the area have come forward. The detective I spoke to today indicated that I'm the only person so far who actually knew her that has inquired.

The exact cause of death is not yet known. Her body is being held in the Medical Examiner's Office pending autopsy.

Goldi's cat was found alive in the condo and picked up by local Animal Control who in turn transferred it to Safe Rescue on the 21st. Adoption status is currently unknown but at least he/she should be all right for now. (Goldi loved her pet dearly, hopefully it will find a good home.)

I will be contacted by the sheriff's department with further developments, which of course I will post here as I receive them. (If I don't hear anything for a while I'll inquire further.)

I would like to put in a good word for the St. Johns County Sheriff's Department as well as Animal Control. Everyone I have dealt with has been very courteous, kind, professional, and helpful.

LP will continue to operate, hosting is paid for the next 3 months. I have contacted the web programmer (Neil) who co-created LP with Goldi and wrote the software that it runs on to see if he is interested in running the site long-term. If that does not work out we will need to formulate a plan for LP to move forward.

As a side note, although it is not a direct concern of anyone here, as it happens this has hit during a time when I'm dealing with the recent death of a very close friend from college days. An ongoing part of that is working with the family and others tasked with winding down his business since I handled the tech end of that for him. (Being a sole proprietorship the determination was made that the business could not continue.) So there is a lot on my plate at the moment.

If someone could possibly assist by calling area synagogues to determine which if any Goldi was associated in order to inform them that would be very helpful. (Of the addresses listed for her, 560 Florida Club Blvd. in St. Augustine was current at the time of Goldi's death.) A single point of contact would be preferable, we don't want to bury them in phone calls.

I also have to add that it is pretty low-class to get into political, religious, or personal squabbles in this thread. Show some respect guys. I really don't care if you want to beat each other over the head but take it to the appropriate place.

That's sad she died so alone that way. I hope her cat finds a good home.

At least she's in a better place where suffering does not exist, and she now gets to know everything there is to know (those are my beliefs anyway).

At LP, The Examiner found the picture you guys are talking about. At least, it is the one I saw before and it was said to be Goldi's protest photo. I had forgotten it until I saw you guys mention it so I asked if anyone at LP recalled it.

LP post with the UN picture

Anyway, I thought Hmmmmmm might want to see his old photo and I notice he has a 2014 date here so he is posting under a handle I don't know but is obviously one of the "old gang" that most of us are part of from TOS.

I'm not trying to start any cross-forum squabble here. Just offering a link to a photo mentioned here at 4um. I would post it here myself but some of you wouldn't appreciate that.

Anyway, I didn't want to intrude too much as I'm sure you are all occupied with 4um's Hanukkah festivities.     : )

Thanks for keeping it classy, christine.

Don't know why you think posters would get ugly on ya for posting Goldi's picture here. Truth be told, folks on this reputed "hate" site are considerably more courteous & conspicuously less antagonistic than participants are on some other popular forums we know of are.

Sad to hear about Sally. And a sad way to go too. This is shaping up to be an ill-omened holiday in some respects.

And it is probably the perfect photo to remember Goldi, whether you liked her or not since it works equally well for either. It did show a lot of personality. She must have been in a feisty mood that day, perched on the enemy's doorstep.

I saw before and it was said to be Goldi's protest photo.

That is defiantly Sally. I (we) took a hundred or so pictures that day and she was in 3 or 4 of them, featured in only 2. I haven't looked for those files in years.

I was part of the "old gang" when they fought Clinton, I was part the "old gang" when they fought Gore, I was part of the "old gang" that claimed to be "Conservative". By the time that picture was taken it was long past clear that Bush was our new problem "and they all moved away from me on the group W bench".

So I moved away from them.

There's another photo of her. I think in the UN there's a monument of a pistol with the barrel tied into a knot. An anti-gun thing. She's in that with her middle finger in the air. She told me about it. Almost got in trouble with security for climbing up on the surrounding fence to pose for the photo.

I've seen it, but no idea where it may be now.

That photo at the UN is the one posted on this thread. After some of us went in there and found out we were not on US soil and had NO rights there they barred anymore protesters from entering with shirts or signs, hence Goldi standing outside giving the finger.

I have no idea which hard drive those photos (I have more) are on, last time I went to look for them it took me a month.

I wanted to ask if you can recall what year the photo was from? I'm thinking 2002 or 2003 would be about right.

Did Goldi run with the DC chapter on a regular basis then or was this a one-time affair? Did you all travel down to NYC on a commercial bus or a charter? Was Goldi still living in Brooklyn, MD when the photo was taken (I thought she was already in FL by then but I can't say I have any info to support that).

And, if you and christine don't mind, I'll condense down some of the comments about the photo's background here on the thread to post and give the photo some context on Goldi's RIP thread over at LP. So many had never seen any photo of Goldi at all.

I still think it's an epic photo of her. And it was a terrific event for the DC chapter, something I never knew about (or had forgotten). We may all have some disagreements on these Pinguinite forums (and even TOS) but I have yet to find a single non-troll poster on any of them that liked anything about the U.N. So this is a good way for Goldi to be remembered.

I don't think so.

I'm an honorary member of the FReeper DC Chapter and I have the pin to prove it. That was about a dozen years ago.

kristinn (male) and whatsherface (I can't remember her name) were active back then in the chapter organization and events. They had a web site and stuff.

I enjoyed my time with them, even tho I've since departed the reservation, I focus on the fond memories.

As a small government, freedom-loving non-Republican who puts the interests of the United States above those of Israel, Goldi-Lox hated my guts and those who think as I do. She equated anyone who put American interests above Israels to be anti-Semitic. She had a vile opinion of the survivors of the USS Liberty and considered them to be anti-Semitic as well. Like most Israeli-firsters she was unable to see the difference between being anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic. She equated Zionism with Judaism, ignoring the fact that a large number of her fellow Jews are anti- Zionist.

I'm sorry for her cat that she died. That's about all of the compassion I can muster for her.
