I just read a Fb post by Esso's wife, Marla, that he is in the hospital. She didn't say the reason, but that his BP is very high and that he is in a lot of pain.

Please keep our dear friend in your thoughts and prayers today.

Will do. I'm beginning to suspect something like glass-shrapnel in him that got overlooked or plastics that also might not be visible in x-rays. I actually know of such a case where the doctors and nurses thought nothing of a glass shard being the possible source of pain but it was and was removed weeks later at home when discovered but no thanks to them.

I had an accident a long time ago and had glass work out from under my skin (mainly in my forehead) for close to a year.

Correction: It stuck in my left thigh. I can still see it. And I'm still brain damaged.

You got off lightly with glass.

Fear not, Fred. I accidently jammed a pencil lead into my left arm once and eventually I couldn't see it there anymore so I figure, like the glass JD mentioned, that it must have worked its way out and yours will too. Besides, we could both be wrong and maybe it only looked like lead but was really just graphite.

Graphite, eh?

Now you've got me really confused.

Graphite - Wikipedia

Says there that it's considered the highest grade of coal and made almost entirely of carbon atoms - sort of comparable to diamonds but it's called a "writing stone" instead of a gemstone.
