A cool song.

An absolutely brilliant voice!

Nice to see another Nightwish fan on the forum. What do you think of their latest vocalist, Floor Jansen?

She's cool. Annette was horrible. I like Floor. She moves better in the act although if I had to choose one I'd take Tarja who's doing great with her own band.

Any song that opens with a long drum solo is suspect. Sorry.

It's one of, if not THE, most epic songs from Nightwish. Did you get past the first few seconds?

BTW: It was not a solo, and if you got past the first 2 or 3 seconds you'd know that. There were accompanying orchestral instruments and vocals, then soon into the song, guitar, then the lead vocals.

My thoughts exactly. However, Tarja's band is nowhere near as good as Nightwish; she sounded MUCH better when she was with them, as they synced together beautifully, it was a one of kind sort of thing. Floor DOES fit in with them well, but not quite like Tarja did.

I oftentimes thought they picked Anette as Tarja's replacement just to piss off Tarja, trying to show they could even throw a karaoke singer on stage to take her place. It obviously didn't turn out so good and they were pitiful for a period of time.

Thank God they decided to can her and replace her with Floor. Now they pretty much sound like an epic band again, different than before, but still epic.

LOL

Yeah, same impression I got. Seems like the split was over money. The sides differ. I agree with what you said about Tarja being better with them and them with her, who knows what really happened.

Tarja's stuff is a little different now, but I think she enjoyed the challenge of doing it. Same genre.

That's what the band and their management want people to think. Toumas was infatuated with Tarja, and after she married someone else, was really messed up in the head.

Have you ever read her husband's letter to the fans after her dismissal from the band?

Yeah, was wondering about that.

No, never saw the letter.

Is this it?

Nope, that's the band's "open" smear letter that they handed Tarja after they walked off stage at arguably their best concert ever at Hartwall Arena, which was filmed and produced into their "End of an Era" DVD.

She went from tears of joy to tears of sorrow in a matter of seconds. They were bastards to do that to her, it was a cowardly and unprofessional thing to do to a founding member who was a huge factor in their success.

That's not even mentioning that the content of the letter was nothing but huge misrepresentations and outright lies, if you dig into the history of the band. Even IF any part of those accusations they hurled at her were true, most bands keep that information to themselves and don't attempt to publically humiliate the former band member and proceed to ruin their careers.

Here's a link to Tarja's husband's response to questions posed to him about the situation that contradict what the band had to say about Tarja. Much of what is stated IS verifiable, if one is truly interested and has the time to dig.

Answers to fan's questions

It's a huge drama show as to what happened. The band certainly didn't act like grown men and were quite cowardly to do what they did. They could have just met with her a week or so after their last concert and tell her face to face, and then just say she left due to personal and professional differences.

Sounds like Annette got screwed too.

Annette's Account

The picture being formed here is that Tuomas has an enormous ego and seemingly controls, or at least guides, what the other bandmembers seem to think. This is hardly unheard of for the brains behind a music group and makes sense whether its true or not. It has ruined many a band.

It's also a red flag that Tuomas went into some kind of manic depression that prevented him from behaving normally while Tarja merely went thru normal phases of grieving.

Marcelo comes across as a very professional person.

I somewhat agree, but then again, she deserved to be fired more so than Tarja did, as not only was she a sub-par performer, but she really DID often times cancel concerts due to various issues.

Same impression I got when I first heard about them, then found out about their "open letter" and how Tarja's dismissal was handled. He thinks of himself as the "Maestro" and pretty much takes sole credit for the songwriting even though other members have their input to the songs as well. Seems to me he was furious that Tarja married someone else, and he found ways to get back at her and cause her agony. Apparently, some of Tuomas' songs were written not just for Tarja to sing, but FOR Tarja in terms of lyrics, such as the song, "Everdream". He was hoping that she'd figure that out perhaps, and was devastated when she either didn't catch on or simply wasn't interested in him romantically.

It's also a red flag that Tuomas went into some kind of manic depression that prevented him from behaving normally while Tarja merely went thru normal phases of grieving.

Yep, his songs from that period, "Bye Bye Beautiful" and "The Poet and the Pendulum" speak loudly about what was passing through his head.

Let's see how he handles their new singer, Floor Jansen. Floor would probably kick his ass up and down if he gave her grief, as she's a Viking sort of woman...

LOL

Yeah, not sure I'd want to mess with her.

I'll bet that it ends similarly though. ... whenever it does end. My guess is that Floor will also eventually want to do some solo stuff and that will cause similar problems.

This whole thing about Tuomas dictating to his singers is absurd.
