On December 30, 2014, Louisiana writer Lamar White, Jr. posted to his own website that Representative Steve Scalise (R-La.) spoke at a 2002 conference hosted by the European-American Unity and Rights Organization (EURO). In an attempt to discredit Scalise, liberal media outlets then latched onto the obscure event that took place over a decade ago solely because EURO had been founded by white nationalist leader David Duke.
Whenever Duke’s name was mentioned on NBC or in The New York Times, the first words to emerge were “Duke was a former Ku Klux Klan leader.” Unfortunately, these venues failed to acknowledge that Duke is also a prolific author, speaker and radio talk show host and was a prominent legislator in the Louisiana state House of Representatives from 1989-1992 and a presidential candidate. Instead, these mainstream propagandists simply relied on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) characterization of EURO as a “hate group.”
During a January 5 television interview with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, Duke countered that former Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) belonged to the Klan for a much longer time than Duke did. And when Byrd died in 2010, President Barack Hussein Obama referred to him as a “great man.”
Duke made his views clear to O’Reilly: “European-Americans shouldn’t be discriminated against. . . . I love and want to preserve my European heritage.”
But flagrant double standards do apply to whites in comparison to shakedown artists like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who blackmail corporations into making large monetary donations in return for not being labeled “racists.”
Fully aware of how these race-hustling talking heads play their game, Duke came out swinging. After a furor arose on January 2 over Scalise’s possible ties to EURO, Duke responded with an urgent warning: “If Scalise is going to be crucified—if Republicans want to throw Steve Scalise to the woods—then a lot of them better be looking over their shoulders.”
In other words, he’d be compelled to start naming names of other congressmen that he’s rubbed shoulders with over the years. Duke went on to say that during the course of his political career, he’s also met with Democratic legislators on at least 50 different occasions.
As for Scalise, an interesting narrative has emerged. Liberal journalist Stephanie Grace claimed nearly 20 years ago that Scalise once identified himself to her as “David Duke without the baggage.”
For his part, Duke asserted, “[Scalise] echoes a lot of my ideology and my policies, no question about it.” On the other hand, Duke confirmed that he doesn’t see eye to eye with Scalise’s support for Israel or his neoconservative approach to foreign policy.
Adding another twist to the situation are uncertainties as to whether Scalise actually even appeared before the EURO symposium in 2002.
According to Duke’s former campaign manager, Kenneth Knight, who organized the conference at Metairie, La.’s Best Western Hotel, Scalise spoke two-and-a-half hours earlier to the Jefferson Heights Civic Association. Only later that afternoon did EURO members congregate at the hotel.
In addition, Duke wasn’t in Louisiana when EURO met at the time. He had been in Europe that year.
Still, even if Duke had attended the EURO conference, Louisiana journalist Jarvis DeBerry asked a pertinent question in a January 2 Times-Picayune column: “What was [Scalise] supposed to do, not talk to white-rights groups?”
Making the most of his moment in the spotlight, Duke pointed to the real villain today, during a January 2 radio broadcast: “The biggest problem is this Zio-Globalism that’s trying to regiment and suppress and oppress all of humanity except for one sector of humanity. International Jewish banks like Goldman Sachs robbed and destroyed millions of lives with their trillion-dollar theft during the last mortgage meltdown.”

On January 13, this reporter spoke with David Duke in order to get his comments concerning the Steve Scalise brouhaha. When asked under what conditions he’d reveal the names of other politicians that he’d worked with over the past few decades, Duke said, “The only way I’ll name names is if they throw Scalise under the bus. I won’t talk about this subject any other way. Of course, some politicians are nervous, especially those that have bought my mailing lists and are nationally known or who’ve run statewide campaigns. There are a lot of people out there who’ve supported me.”
Duke added, “Your readers at AFP should know that the real reason why the media keeps calling me a racist and bringing up my past association with the Klan is not because of my former views, but due to my current position on Israel. They’re also afraid that someone like Scalise might buck total Israeli control over Congress and vote differently than what groups like AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee] would want him to.”
On that note, Duke made a clarification: “Although Scalise has been unfairly treated and raked over the coals, I could never vote for someone like him that supports state-committed terrorism like Israel has.”
In regard to Scalise’s past association with groups like EURO, Duke reasoned, “Why shouldn’t he listen to and hear from people in his own district? All he’s doing is representing his voters. It’s interesting that in the same district, which Scalise now serves, I received over 60% of the popular vote when running for governor and during my senatorial race. From my perspective, we’re in the midst of a massive uprising where people are realizing how the Israeli lobby leads Congress around by the nose.”
Lastly, Duke offered this heartfelt insight. “I’ve learned of ways to psychologically deprogram people from Israeli influence. European-Americans have the right to preserve their heritage. That, after all, is a basic human right.”
