Google - can.politics Public schools - that is, state owned and operated schools - should be auctioned off to private school operators. There is no valid reason for their existence. Families should be directly responsible for paying for their children's schooling. If there is a role for public financing for poorer families, it should be through financial assistance to allow them to pay for schooling; the state should not directly provide the schooling.

Public assistance is given to low income families for food, housing and health care, among other things. In none of those are families required to obtain the goods or services at state owned and operated facilities. Instead, they are given vouchers allowing them to purchase the goods and services from the suppliers they choose. Schooling should be no different. The state can set whatever standards it wishes, and the vouchers can be used only at those schools that meet the standards. It is no different with the other goods and services.

Close the state owned and operated schools. There shouldn't be any.

Meanwhile, there shouldn't be any state-imposed age-limits barring adults from working online for a high school diploma instead of a G.E.D.

A huge AMEN to that.

People would save thousands of dollars by having the accursed ISD tax bill go away.
