Would you help a homeless child on the streets, or would you just keep walking by – like hundreds of people in New York did?

In this heartrending video, a boy is dresses up in a ripped t-shirt and jeans and poses as a homeless child on a busy New York City street for hours to see people’s reactions.

After several hours, a homeless man takes the freezing kid under his wing, dresses him in his own jacket, and even gives the boy what little money he had to get him something to eat.

“I’m homeless…we got to look out for one another,” the man says to the boy.

The homeless good Samaritan encourages the boy by telling him that he still has a chance in life, and that he could still make something of himself.

“I messed up in life, but you know, you’re young you can have a good chance at life,” he tells the kid.

After a heartbreaking display of some people’s lack of empathy or concern for others, this unlikely hero shows true compassion – all while the rest of the city seems to walk on by.

After the video was shot, the producers approached the homeless man and gave him at least $500 and some grateful hugs.

OckTV set up a fundraiser to help clothe the homeless people of New York who are dealing with freezing temperatures this winter. If you feel like contributing, it could make a positive difference in someone’s life.

That video really made me sad for the state of humanity....two hours and not a soul stopped to help him when he didn't even have a coat!!! : (
