It's also why everyone uses ties, not cuffs these days.

It might be a good idea to buy an extra one to hide within reach of your headboard, you know, in case of a real emergency.

An excellent idea and well worth the investment!

Just another idea that was stolen from me like the barbed drain cleaners you can buy in the stores now (the prototype was made out of one if those big, long zip- ties).

I wanted to use a carbon fiber based resin for the key because I didn't have the resources in the shop to do thermoplastics like this one looks like.

To be honest, they're probably on pretty shakey legal ground given the current police state, but I wish them all the luck. FWIW, I've developed two prototype products that are now illegal under Indiana law.

Truth is still truth even if no one believes it. A lie is still a lie even if everyone believes it.

who the hell is reading this?

I read the article but I believe a simple bobbypin can perform the same trick. Why pay good money for a cheap trick when a good girlfriend comes in handy with a valuable asset in times of need?

Never had the need to attempt this myself, but was once informed by an acquaintance that a shortened metal tine, generally used on street sweepers, can be concealed in a similar location, and if needed, can be slid into the cuff against the metal teeth. This is supposed to cause the locking tooth to disengage, releasing the cuff.
