My friend, Michael Strickland, a conservative citizen journalist here in Oregon whose videos can be seen at Laughing at Liberals and whose writing can be seen at Gateway Pundit, captured some great testimony yesterday in Salem.

The State House of Representatives was debating Senate Bill 941, which in summary:

Outlaws private transfers of personal property, expands gun registry and police gun owner list, requires gun owners to ask permission from Oregon State Police before giving guns to others, forces every transfer to be subject to failed “background check” system.

Michael captured some great testimony from Oregon Sheriffs at the hearing, which took place Thursday, 22 April 15, from 1PM – 10PM.

Grant County Sheriff Glenn Palmer

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin

Yamhill County Sheriff Tim Svenson

Other Oregon Sheriffs have written open letters to the legislators stating their opposition to SB941 and their intent to not enforce the heinous law.

Crook County Sheriff Jim Hensley:

Hensley Letter

Columbia County Sheriff Jeff Dickerson:

OpenLetter2ndSB941.2015

We’ll see what happens next. The opposition to this bill is overwhelming throughout the state: lawful citizens who own guns for a variety of reasons are not the problem.

Criminals are the problem and a gun registration masquerading as a “Gun Safety Bill” will not solve that problem. Lawbreakers are called such for a reason, and a multitude of new laws will not compel them to suddenly obey.

What can make Oregon citizens safer is more guns in the hands of good and well-trained Oregonians.

In the words of Gunsite Founder and Marine LtCol Jeff Cooper:

“If violent crime is to be curbed, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he must be taught to fear is his victim.”

We the people of Oregon don’t intend to have our Second Amendment rights infringed — we have the Constitution on our side.

And thankfully we have the great Oregon Sheriffs, by and large, on our side.

Not to be cynical or anything, I'm curious what the motivation behind this is. Doing the right thing or fear?

I'm also curious what the typical behaviors of the cops in those departments is otherwise. I mean do they too beat, taze, and shoot people with scant or no justification?

Don't know, just asking.

There are many good police and occasional good sheriffs. The System is on a massive drive to get everybody (notably blacks) hating and mauling police to the point of national meltdown, but I'm going to venture a guess that 50 to 75 percent is still what it's supposed to be.

Even bad sheriffs have to be capable of seeing where liberal dictates are leading, and there very well may be public pressure behind this guy's announcement.

All is not lost, even if it feels that way 90% of the time.

My personal experiences, no shortage, coupled with everything we see on YT and elsewhere tells me that the problem of cops being mental is endemic.

Again, anytime that they want to prove differently the departments can stop discouraging, to be polite, the whistleblowers and the few that appear to actually be concerned.

To date that has not nor is not happening.

I'd like to start seeing police chiefs writing publicly about "unacceptable" behavior on the parts of their and other PDs around the country when issues arise instead of sending the psychos on administrative leave (aka paid vacation) and then sending it into some supposed investigation often never to be heard from again.

A huge part of the problem is that people that become cops often are not too bright to begin with. Then as we know they look for certain psychological profiles and eh voila, just what we have today.

Hearing about the "good cops" gets old. Like the old TV slogan says, Not Saying "No" is Just Like Saying "Yes."

The government PR campaign used to hammer on us when it was politically expedient in drug commercials, how about a national TV campaign against the police state using the same slogan?

We both know better than to hold our breath on that one. After all, those psychos cover-up and protect the establishment. You could even say that they Serve and Protect [the establishment]!

The letters provided do not state anyone's intent to not enforce the law.

I think last night provided a marvelous peek at what a city looks like when the police step back and do nothing. Make no mistake, this tactic is something I want more of. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to see the fruits of the welfare state burn to the ground. Unfortunately the nogs will take out some dopey Whites, but Darwin's theory never takes a rest.

Are you serious?

99.99% of cops will lie without qualm to protect themselves and their fellow officers. They lie, plant evidence, withhold exculpatory evidence, and beat innocent people every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. They will destroy your life in a heartbeat just because they can. The profession attracts psychopaths -- you know, the guys who want the gun, the blue lights, the handcuffs, and the key to the jail. Any honest cop is forced out, usually by being set up by his fellow officers. Grigg et al. have been exposing them for years. I know you haven't missed that?

I don't see The System as being on a massive drive to get everybody hating the police. Look at all the television programs and movies produced in the last 30- odd years. A VERY high percentage of them glorify police, sheriffs, FBI, crime scene investigators, swat teams, ad nauseam.

If ever I would leave Freedom4um, it wouldn't be in springtime.
