This is perhaps the most ironic thing to happen lately.
Hillary Clinton has been dogged with more accusations of dirty money making its way over to her and her nonprofit the Clinton Foundation.
Allegations the Clinton foundation has received funds from more than a few foreign sources seem indisputable. The evidence being so concrete a district court judge even moved forward with a federal RICO case (RICO stands for racketeering, influenced and corrupt organizations) against her foundation.
Which is why when Hillary said the endless flow of dirty money into politics should stop, even commentators cant help but scoff.
Western Journalism writes:
At her first public event on New York Citys Roosevelt Island Saturday, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made a remark that could come back to haunt her for a long time.
Roughly 30 minutes into the speech, Clinton said: We have to stop the endless flow of secret, unaccountable money that is distorting our elections, corrupting our political process, and drowning out the voices of our people.
But CNNs senior political correspondent Brianna Keilar, who was covering the Clinton event, noted the remark could have dire consequences:
That last thing she talked about, the unaccountable money, this is really the one, not the one, but an issue that could cause some problems for her, Fred, because there are polls lately, this is a difficult spot for Hillary Clinton, something she needs to deal with, showing that a lot of Americans think that shes not trustworthy, and honest, and part of that is certainly coming from all of this coverage of the Clinton Foundation, the donations that the Clinton Foundation has gotten.
Clinton is already having problems earning Americans trust. A CNN/ORC poll released June 2 showed that 50 percent of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of the former secretary of state and 57 percent find her untrustworthy.
The Democratic presidential candidate has been ensconced in several scandals including one involving lost emails on a personal server during her time at Foggy Bottom, along with questions about foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation. There has also been an ongoing investigation into the 2012 attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
On top of that, the former first lady has been less than friendly with the media. As Mediaite noted, The Daily Mails David Martosko was barred as Mondays pool reporter for Clintons campaign bus, igniting outrage among political journalists.
The mounting evidence against Clinton doesnt look all that promising for the embattled former first lady.
Its already been shown Mrs. Clintons approval rating has plummeted to a 14-year-low. And new revelations she directly defied the President and allowed an unapproved aide to work with her at the State Department might further tarnish her reputation.
Dont rub your hands together just yet.
The Clintons are slippery but its looking like she might be paying the piper sooner than later.
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable. ~ H. L. Mencken
