Gotta love Dolly, that was disturbing :)

I remember the first time I ever saw Dolly. She was barely 18 and sang on Porter Wagoner's show (from Amarillo, TX IIRC).

Porter's wife wound up divorcing him for giving Dolly a new Cadillac and fur coat. Not sure what Porter got out of the deal (snicker)

I've been imbibing heavily, I exit tonight's 4-UM discussion with what I believe is the greatest Country & Western song ever recorded:

There is a lot of difference between Loretta and Dolly.

Loretta doesn't 'like' girls, and I don't think she sold herself to 'get to the top.'

This is the old 'real country.' I'm not well versed in it.

Loretta's favorite was Bill Monroe.

Elvis' first national hit was his rendition of Bill's 'Blue Moon of Kentucky.'

Ricky Skaggs got some of his fire from Bill Monroe as a kid.

(FF to 1:00 to get past the 'twang.)
