The U.S. ambassador to the Vatican said that during Pope Francis’ visit to the United States next month, he expects the Pope will urge the U.S. to embrace its history of welcoming immigrants.

Ambassador Kenneth Hackett said the Pope’s immigration message will be important as lead GOP presidential contender Donald Trump has called for a border fence between Mexico and the United States and the deportation of millions of illegal immigrants, the Associated Press reports.

“I think he’ll call us to continue to engage with it (the world), don’t throw any walls up around our nation, don’t revert to isolationism,” he said. “We are a nation of welcoming people, so that’s where I think he will put his attention.”

he said. “We are a nation of welcoming people, so that’s where I think he will put his attention.”

Just about every Catholic church that I've seen had gates around its properties, locks, no trespassing signs and even parking tow away warning signs.

For these left winger bishops and the Pope to constantly advocate open borders as if immigration is the only "social justice" issue , while at the same time asserting their property & sovereignty rights (which apply to individuals AND nation states, as even outlined in the Cathechism of the Catholic church) is hypocrtical, disingenuous and disgusting.

But for those who lose heart, the church is comprised of individuals, sinners and saints, just as Jesus disciples. I've heard it described as the church (the body of Christ) going through a passion- scourging, very bloody & ugly- but despair not.

"Even to the death fight for truth, and the LORD your God will battle for you". Sirach 4:28

Have to agree with the Pope's thinking. So much needs to be done in North America: bringing water to drought areas, building high-speed rail, safer, more efficient roads. Just needs political leadership focusing on mobilization of human capital to do the work (rather than being preoccupied with stupid wars against Israel's enemies).
