Pippa McKinney, 22, met Matt in a club and tried to find him on Facebook But she claims that the mystery man's girlfriend spotted her post Pippa's status has 14,000 likes; some said she was kissing and telling

A birthday girl claims she was left 'gutted and embarrassed' when she made an appeal on Facebook to track down the 'stunning' lad she met in a nightclub - only to discover he had a girlfriend.

Pippa McKinney, 22, shared kisses and her number with Matty Steven when she met him on her birthday night out in Manchester. He even invited her to go a hotel room with him or his 'mum's house'.

When she woke up the next day, the hairdressing student from Stockport, shared a picture of herself with a man she only knew as Matt, from Wythenshawe, and a plea to be reunited with him - only for his other half Emily to respond instead.

Pippa McKinney claims she was left 'gutted' after putting out a search on Facebook for a man she met in a club only to discover he was taken

But to her horror, she said it soon emerged that Matty had a girlfriend - who quickly dumped him publicly online and the status has now been liked nearly 14,000 times.

Pippa and Emily have since spoken and cleared the air, Pippa wrote on Facebook.

Pippa shared a selfie of her with Matt and wrote: 'Met this guy last night, absolutely stunning, took his number down wrong but would love to get to see him again.

'He's from Wythenshawe and is called Matt, help anyone?'

nitially, her friends pledged to share the status to see if they could reunite Pippa with the man she claimed to have kissed.

And some even joked he might have given her the wrong number on purpose. But the joking took a turn for the serious when Matt's girlfriend found the status.

A friend of Emily's tagged her in the status, and after Pippa spotted Emily's cover photo with the mystery man, Pippa realised she must be his girlfriend.

When she realised what had happened, Pippa wrote: 'I can't believe it, knew it would be the case. 'Not my fault, he told me he was single.'

Knew I shouldn't have shared this f***'s sake.'

But the status, which has 1,500 comments on Facebook, has brought in some abuse for Pippa because many felt she should have deleted the thread.

Pippa said: 'I was absolutely gutted. I know I had only met him on a night out but we instantly hit it off and I really did like him. I thought he looked stunning and he was really friendly, we just clicked.

'But when I realised he had a girlfriend I couldn't believe it. I felt really embarrassed, especially once the post went viral. I feel embarrassed for his girlfriend too as this is not her fault.

'Whenever I go out I feel like people are looking at me now as it seems everyone has heard about what happened. I just thought he was a really nice guy but I was obviously wrong.

'I do feel a bit sorry for him now as there is so many people laughing at him but then he shouldn't have done what he did and he will have to face the consequences.

'I have been getting lots of abuse from people too but at the end of the day I was innocently looking for a lad I liked who I thought was single - I didn't do anything wrong.

'From now on I'm going to be really wary before speaking to anyone else in a club or a bar in future as it has put me off. I would definitely be checking their number properly before I left if I did meet anyone I liked, but this incident has made me very wary to meet lads in bars.'

Why should we worry about Syria and the Ukraine when we can talk about Facebook posts?(1 image)

Hey, even we need some unimportant fluff stories here now and then.

I sometimes lurk but seldom post on Facebook. I'm a private sort of guy.

Keynesianism: steal by counterfeiting whenever needed
