Should Restaurant Owners Be Able to Restrict Guns in Their Establishments? Poll Image

A recent “armed trip” to a Chipotle restaurant in Dallas by gun rights group Open Carry Texas set off a petition campaign by the Michael Bloomberg-supported gun control group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. The petition gathered more than 10,000 signatures in just a few hours and triggered Chipotle to issue a statement asking its patrons to not bring guns into its restaurants, citing concern that the display of firearms creates a potentially intimidating environment for its customers. Last year, Starbucks also told its patrons guns were not welcome in its stores in response to a planned gun rights rally in Newtown, Conn.

PersonalLiberty.com, America's #1 news site for independent-minded individuals, is conducting an urgent poll to see if you believe a private business should be able to restrict its customers from bringing a gun into its establishment even if local laws support their right to do so.

The results of the poll will be available to you after you submit your vote, and we'll also share the poll results with major media outlets across the country. Thousands will vote, so take a moment right now to stand up and be counted. Your opinion matters!

Vote today!

Vote in the poll on concealed carry at source.

If the business leases the store, they cannot restrict firearms. Only businesses that own their store have this right to restrict.

I should be allowed to restrict admission to anything I am allowed to say or think I own, seems like.

Well sure they have the right to set what ever rules they like. That's freedom. But their rules aren't laws so there's that too.

That could cut both ways. Are you referring to franchisees of these chains rather than those that own them? it sounds like the gun policy's coming down from the chains' head offices.

Since Lester Maddox had the right to decide who he served in his restaurant and Bob Jones U had the right (pre-sellout) to decide whom to admit, I guess the chains have the right too. Hate to even think it, but one of our premises is that freedom includes (or centrally features) the right to be wrong.

I was thinking of a law suit against a restaurant that forbade conceal carry permit holders to dine armed if they are killed or injured by a robber.

I'm unclear on the cavalry plan; but I hope that it doesn't involve charging into Little Bull Horn. Otherwise, count me in.

display of firearms creates a potentially intimidating environment for its customers

No one's intimidated when armed police walk into restaurant or doughnut shop. Actually feel more secure. Having responsible, permitted gun carriers anywhere would provide a greater sense of security rather than intimidation as long a sporadic shootings, especially mass killings continue in America's culture.

Black Sabbath

I knew a girl in Illinois that had a Black Labrador Retriever. She named it Sabbath. I guess we know what kind of music she liked. ;)
