On Wednesday, June 29, 2016, President Obama was asked by a reporter at the North American Leaders’ Summit what he and his counterparts thought of presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump’s views on immigration. Without naming Trump, the President answered that some of the language used in the current political argument is not new to American politics. He also said he believed that Americans would reject, as they have in the past, words that he characterized as those used by demagogues throughout U.S. history.
