Trump in Spotlight Thursday Night by Stephen Lendman
Accepting his partys presidential nomination Thursday night represents his triumphant moment - overcoming long odds and internal opposition to emerge last man standing.
What persona will show up? Will he continue demagogic bravado or try appearing presidential?
Expect both, Trump using his acceptance speech to bash crooked Hillary while attempting to show leadership qualities - aiming for party unity and a more favorable image in the minds of voters, largely reviling him for good reason.
Rejecting Hillary around as much means Obamas successor will be the most widely loathed new president in US history on taking office - a shocking indictment of a deplorable system, corrupted beyond fixing, the peoples choice rendered meaningless.
Politicking is tedious, uninspiring and boring. Love or hate him, Trump speeches attract listeners and viewers. Demagoguery and showmanship provide red meat for the faithful. Expect millions to watch. Divided or united, the GOP is his party - at least through November elections.
Does it matter who wins? A Trump presidency assures dirty business as usual, marked by his distinctive way of doing things - perhaps running America like a wholly-owned Trump Enterprises subsidiary.
Clinton succeeding Obama risks WW III - an unthinkable horror above all to prevent.
