Donald Trump on Wednesday said that any classified intelligence Hillary Clinton receives will likely be filtered to disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner, who Trump said is a "sleazeball and a pervert." "The director of the FBI said [Clinton] was essentially negligent ... Why are they giving her briefings?" Trump said during a press conference in Doral, Fla. "Why are these people with great knowledge of the inner workings of our country and our security ... giving Hillary Clinton briefings? ... It's going to get revealed.
"Her No. 1 person is Huma Abedin, married to Anthony Weiner, who is a sleazeball and a pervert," Trump said, referring to Clinton's close adviser. "I'm not saying that. That's recorded history, right? I don't like Huma going home at night and telling Anthony Weiner all these secrets."
Both presidential nominees are set to begin recieving classified national security briefings in order to prepare them for the Oval Office.
Longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin, who serves as the vice chairwoman of Clinton's presidential campaign, is married to Weiner, who was forced to resign from Congress in 2011 after accidentally posting a revealing picture of himself on Twitter.
Weiner subsequently ran a mayoral campaign in 2013, but lost after one of his "Internet mistresses" outed him for additional extramarital activity.
Weiner battled one of Trump's sons, Donald Trump, Jr., on Twitter on Tuesday, after he criticized the prospect of the younger Trump running for mayor of New York City. "I'd come out of retirement just to beat him like a rented mule," Weiner said.
"Too soon Anthony!!! You probably shouldn't be talking about beating anything ever again. Go back to your cave," Trump Jr. responded.
The elder Trump said on Wednesday his son had "no intention" of running for mayor, but that his performance at the Republican National Convention last week had inspired the speculation. "Don has no intention of running for mayor, but he did a great job the other night with his speech. Because he made a great speech, everyone said he should run for mayor," Trump said.
"Anthony Weiner is a proven loser," Trump added. "The poor guy, he's locked up in a room. They lock him up in a room and don't let him out. I don't know what they have to do."
