West Coast lefties want a ‘wall’ to keep out gun owners

Anti-2nd Amendment crusaders in Washington State and Oregon are looking to pass California-style gun control legislation with the goal of forming a “West Coast Wall” of draconian anti-firearm regulations along the Pacific coast.

The effort is being spearheaded by the anti-2nd Amendment groups Washington CeaseFire and Ceasefire Oregon, both of which have lobbied heavily for stronger state and federal firearm laws for decades.

On its website, CeaseFire Oregon provides a few examples of what it sees as “common sense” gun safety improvements, including requiring:

A microstamped code on each bullet that links it to a specific gun Magazine disconnect mechanisms (MDM) that prevent a gun from loading a bullet in the chamber Loaded chamber indicator (LCI or CLI) to show that bullets are still in the gun “Smart guns” with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) or biometric recognition (fingerprint) capability. Banning assault rifles like the AR 15 and high-capacity magazines that hold more than 5 rounds of ammunition will greatly reduce death and injury.

Washington Ceasefire promotes similar firearm safety ideas.

But right now, the groups are looking closely at neighboring California for a blueprint for banning firearm magazines able to hold more than 10 rounds and so-called “assault weapons” and the “bullet buttons” California politicians claim circumvent the bans.

The groups’ leaders say California’s example and mainstream media’s current anti-gun attitudes make it an opportune moment to make the entire West Coast a 2nd Amendment abuse zone.

And by far, their biggest goal is expanding bans on so-called “assault weapons.”

“We’re not under any illusion that the assault-weapons ban is going to solve all of our problems,” Ralph Fascitelli, board president of Washington CeaseFire, told Seattle Times, “but it is low-hanging fruit, the kind of action that has the greatest chance of succeeding.”

Do they think they can keep out hunters with the proper permits from DNR? Oh, that's right. I almost forgot. Hunting would also be banned since I am sure the animal rights wackos are out there in force.
