40 is the new 30? Try the new 18. This week in Milan, grown-up supermodels are storming the catwalks, showing Gen Z phenoms how its always been done. There was Naomi Campbell (47) at Versace, Raquel Zimmerman (33) at Prada, andas of this morningboth Karen Elson (37) and Lauren Hutton (72!) at Bottega Venetta. She closed the show walking arm-in-arm with Gigi Hadid (21).
The best part was when Lauren looked up at Gigi and gave her this squeeze on the arm, said InStyle editor-in-chief Laura Brown. It was really like she was giving her the seal of approval, like she was passing the torch to a new generation of supermodels.

But to the average American, are supermodels really celebrities? Oh, I think in the current day, some fashion designers and models are just as famous as some movie stars, Brown said. And Lauren Hutton, Naomi, Gisele, theyre still popping up in ad campaigns and runway shows because theyre grown ups. They have children, and work, and relationships. And they still manage to be glamorous and powerful. Thats whats appealingthe fact that they have grown-up lives plus that kind of sex appeal.
Does that mean we can expect to see the old guard at upcoming shows in Paris? Bet on it, says Brown. They have the name recognition to get press, they have the looks and experience to make clothes look incredible, and theyre grown up, she laughed, which some women buying clothes find more appealing.

I would like to "pass the torch" to someone also.
