Elaine Chao named transportation secretary 00:45

(CNN)President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Elaine Chao, the former labor secretary and wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to be his choice for transportation secretary, an official briefed on the matter told CNN on Tuesday.

The announcement is expected to come this afternoon.

Chao served as secretary of labor under President George W. Bush from 2001 through 2009 -- the longest tenure in the position since World War II -- and has been married to McConnell since 1993. She was the first Asian-American woman to serve in a Cabinet position.

Chao also served as the deputy secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1991. Following her time in government, Chao has held a position as a distinguished fellow at the Heritage Foundation in addition to conducting media appearances.

At the Transportation Department, Chao would have a key role in helping Trump get an infrastructure spending bill passed through Congress and start government-backed works projects -- a role likely to be complicated by her relationship with McConnell, who will also be a critical player in any infrastructure bill negotiations.

But Chao wouldn't be the first transportation secretary faced with such a conflict -- Elizabeth Dole served in the position from 1983 to 1987, while married to Sen. Bob Dole, who served as majority leader from 1985-1987.

    Poster Comment:

It doesn't get anymore insider than this. A recycled Poppy NWO Bush, America last, globalist.

It's like 1988 again, but without Dan Quayle, yet!

Thus far the alleged appointments of "the Donald" appear to be the same choices that might be made by any other faker to the Office of Presidential Puppetry. All I can say at this point in time is that voting is a function based in hope without much reason.

But, these sick and twisted minstrels of misery manage to keep the populace dancing to the Piper's tune.

Just as I believe that God is beyond man's ability to comprehend - so is Satan. If Satan can be comprehended I'm sure the school for higher learning is located in Washington, D.C. Spiritual blindness especially amongst so-called Christians is killing America.

Voting these days is condoning evil in the hopes of restoring good.

    True...

A continuation of direction of that thot brings one to a fork in the road.

Stumble along down the same rock strewn path as we have for over 200 years or take the road into the unknown, via revolution.

History provides little knowledge of any lasting, just governments. The basest instinct of man has always been the result.

These elites play the public like a fiddle ... let them eat cake is the true sentiment of the aristocratic scumbags that ascend from hell every election cycle. If the people of the nation would divorce their Uncle Sambo and remove themselves from the incestuous relationship that consistently fucks them in the ass we would have that revolution without too much bloodshed.

Trump is their way of telling us in very certain terms that they rule over a society to dumb and spiritually comatose to know when they're being screwed and made enemies of the entire world.

Heads they win and tails we lose !

You got that right. It's easy and tempting to get caught up in the political hope and hoopla, i myself am guilty of this, especially when he gave great speeches such as this youtu.be/9oNCNrDqwnA

All I can say is I'm glad I didn't vote.

the sad part about this appointment of the neocon bush chink is that this kind of shit affects real people. Just in the past few years Obama's picks for DOT have had very real effects on the daily lives of truckers. All their new rules are annoying, unnecessary and counterproductive, inefficient and monetarily damaging. Rules about the 34 hour restart. The worst is a New mandatory half hour break before 8 hours in your shift. Why in all of history was tbis not needed but now is? And new, upcoming rule on mandated electronic logs. I'll give you a real Horrible example of those 2 rules in One.

So I'm forced to take a federally mandated half hour break even though I'm not tired, there are alreAdy rules limiting drive hours. But papa fed insists I need to stop for nothing. So I start looking for a place to park. Rest area, full. Trucks parked every which way, blocking the thoroughfare. I navigate my way around the disaster of the rest area and get the hell out of there. That's already taken almost 15 mins but there was no place to park, cause it's 3am and there are no parking spots available at that time. Park on the ramp of the rest area maybe, to comply with papa fed? No, papa state trooper will give you a $200+ ticket for that.

I keep driving, next is a loves truck stop. Oh wow, guess what. It's also full. Get out of there and back on the freeway, another approx 20 minutes lost but still hasn't counted as a break because I haven't stopped, parked, or left the front seat. [Yeah I bet you didn't know that you aren't literally allowed to sit in the front seat of your truck during your break, or that would be considered "on duty."

ok, now time is running short, I have only 1 hour 32 minutes left before the E-log gongs and tells me I am violating the half hour break rule. So I find a TA truck stop. Wow, guess what? No parking! Cute!

DO YOU SEE HOW THESE INSANE FED MFERS FUCK WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES WITH THEIR INSANE OBAMA/BUSH CHINK CONTROL FREAK RULES? I WASN'T TIRED BEFORE BUT THIS BULLSHIT IS MAKING ME TIRED AND IRRITATED! I JUST WANT TO DRIVE, DELIVER THIS CHINESE MANUFACTURER SHIT TO THE CONSIGNEE AND GET PAID! BUT NOOO!

So part of the truck stop is a muddy dirt field with giant mud/ice filled holes. I am going to try to navigate this shit in the dark. Holy shit, I nearly got stuck but made it into a "spot".

I sit in the back and wait until the ELog shows a half hour has gone by. Ok, so it resets my available driving time and now I have 5:38 remaining [5 hours 38 minutes.]. Happy and overjoyed that I got that mandated papagov 30 minute break accomplished, I start driving, but then notice that the qualcomm now says 1 hour 20 minutes left on my 14 hour clock! WTF? It didn't even register the half hour break I just took?? What happened to the 5:38 it said before, after I finished my papa FED break?? I now have to find yet another place to stop to ask the E-log department why my papa federally mandated electronic log noted my papa federally mandated half hour break, but once I started driving again, it reverted to as if i never took my break. I look at the log and it says I only stopped for 26 minutes. By the way, if you wondered where i am now, I am parked in line in the fuel island of yet another truck stop, because remember, there is no parking, and I have to keep moving as trucks go through the lane. Note that the log, which had previously listed 30 minutes off, would not have, and could not have, reset my drive time to the proper 5 hours and 38 minutes remaining if I had not stopped for 30 full minutes.

The E-log department responds... by tbe way it's very nice that I have an E-log department, much less one that works 24 hours a day at 3am. Do you think the small businwas owner will have this?] The E-log person replies and says, yeah, sorry, we see this problem quite often. The driver takes their DOT papagov mandated half hour break and then starts driving after their break is completed, but then it shows that they didn't stay a full 30 mi tues. It is a GLITCH, And so we cannot change the (incorrect and fraudulent) 26 minutes to a half hour. (Even though we know tnat you were stopped for half hour.) So , sweetheart, you will have to TAKE YOUR HALF HOUR BREAK ALL OVER AGAIN. After all, you don't want to, and can't, drive without taking your half hour papa fed break. The papa fed E-log machine wouldn't even allow it anyway! Why, that'd probably be 85 CSA points and an out of service, maybe even jail time, boy!

But yeah, I'm sure Elaine chow or whatever the fuck this swamp dweller neocons name is will give a shit or even have a clue whatTF I am talking about!! F all these MFers!!!!!

Thanks for listening, this was fun. :-)

    The correct spelling is "olde."

Seriously, your report is makes some impressive points. It's sad too in demonstrating the unreasonable burdens placed upon working people by the know- it-all pencil head class in Washington.

It may be a good time now for organized strikes or similar strong demonstrations to roll back the weight of restrictions on folks on whom our well-being depends in so many ways.

Where is the leadership on this? Truckers have strength when they work together. They may not have Hoffa, but today they've got the internet. Bring the Beltway to a stop until Trump sees you all in the White House.

Mandates are what the unelected bureaucrats write for we proles, from light-bulbs, to toilets, to e-logs, to healthcare, to hundreds of other things that cost us money and generally don't do one damn thing to make our lives any better; just more expensive.

from my understanding very few truckers today are represented by a union. there are a handful of lobby groups which file lawsuits against all these rules rarely win, often lose. plus most of these lobby groups are only interested in money for themselves. many olde time truckers are calling it quits. many say they can't afford it.

thank God that's one problem I don't have.

I can recall when I was driving cross country. I had two different codrivers. One was ok, but the other was a jerk. We were on a flyover ramp coming from CT into NY. He was driving and had a skid. I said, "That was a tractor skid." He said, "No it wasn't. It was a trailer skid." He was wrong and I was right. I went to see Safety Director and they put me out driving solo.

I had more freedom to stop where I wanted as long as I made my pick ups and deliveries on time.

I can remember bringing Colorado potatoes across Wolf Creek Pass. It was snowing coming across pass. When I got to Flying' J at La Junta, CO it changed to freezing rain. It was that way all the way to Dodge City. ;)
