Today, working in my store Charlie came in. He said he had been arrested earlier. I had a hard time imagining why Charlie would be arrested. He said he was in a Tavern, the TV was showing the strife and violence in Iraq, and he made the public comment that "Iraq was better off under Saddam".

Some brownshirt called the cops and the Colorado Springs, Colorado Police arrested him and charged him with, get this, SEDITION!!

I've known the guy forever, he's NOT making it up. He was pretty disturbed by it.

This proves the saying "Telling the truth in a crazy society is a revolutionary act" or something to that effect.

He was questioned for an hour, then the charges were dropped.

It dosn't matter - the fascists are amoungst us. And the message was sent, backed by the "legitiment use of violence by the authorities".

Then Keith, a long haired rock and roller came in, and I told him what occured to the old man that had just left.

He replied "Good".

After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military. - William S Burroughs

OMG! Today my husband reported that he upset some stranger by making remarks just like that. He couldn't stand listening to the guy extol Bush another second.

I do not quite know what you mean by that, but am confident it is not a compliment to Richard's world views.

These 'brownshirts' are obviously brainwashed by the international Jew media entertainment combine. The pod people are taking over.

Sedition? Is this some local law? State law?

If Federal law, what are the idiots doing in trying to enforce it?

There are plenty of turn coats in this nation. They equate loyalty to government with loyalty to the nation.

The very idea of this reasoning constitutes treason.

I know what I would have done, but that's just me.

Thanks. I wouldn't have read this article otherwise.

Proof that the police state is here and unavoidable. These actions are similar to the no-fly list, I am on. Harassment is so easy by those in power.

OK folks, maybe I'm out of step here, but this is good news. The time to live in peace with these dogs has past. Let the mutts cart you off for speech...or....prepare to fight the mother fuckers. Your choice.

If the facts are as presented, this arrest was unconstitutional under Brandenburg, and the man arrested has a Bivens case against the federal agents.

this arrest was unconstitutional

So the fu*k what? do you think these people care? would you pay (or could you afford) an astronomical legal bill so that the judge can dismiss the case on some legal mumbo jumbo which requires more money to appeal.

no, the gauntlet is being thrown down in every case like this to see just what do the people intend to do. don't forget the brownshirts in the midsts...

polak on LF talks about how poland has survived this kind of fascism. he says his grandmother was turned in for harboring a fugitive from the nazis. his grandmother was killed. the townspeople burned down the house of the man who ratted her out with him and his family inside. polak says this is how poland survived. the people fear their own more than the government.

do americans have the stomach for this?

A successful Bivens case means a lot of money, and, if the facts are as presented, plenty of lawyers would take the case on a contingency basis.

You're kidding, right?

“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes...known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few…No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.” – James Madison, Political Observations, 1795

No. Americans feel a sense of security in war; its nostalgic as in the WW2 aftermath; when America rose as the greatest nation on the planet attempting to arbitrate conflicts, pretty much around the planet. The idea that a police state exists here in America is because of that same sense of security; and is not easily sensed by the vast majority.
