(Reuters) - An undocumented immigrant from El Salvador is suing San Francisco alleging police violated the city's sanctuary city policy by turning him over to U.S. immigration authorities after he reported his car stolen.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday on behalf of Pedro Figueroa Zarceno, 32, in federal court in San Francisco against the city and its police chief for violating his right to due process and breaking an ordinance barring municipal employees from cooperating with federal immigration authorities seeking to deport a person.

Figueroa walked into a police station in November 2015 to report his car stolen, according to the lawsuit. Two days later, the car was found and when he went to recover it, he was handcuffed and led outside where federal immigration agents were waiting for him, the lawsuit said.

The civil action comes as San Francisco and dozens of other U.S. cities face pressure from President-elect Donald Trump, who takes office on Friday, to abandon their policies of limiting cooperation between law enforcement officers and U.S. immigration authorities.

"We'll obviously have to review the lawsuit before we can comment on it," John Cote, a spokesman for the San Francisco city attorney, said by phone. "That being said, San Francisco has strong policies in place to encourage victims and witnesses to report crimes without fear of being deported."

The incident occurred about five months after an undocumented immigrant was charged with murder in the shooting of a woman at a San Francisco pier.

The shooting drew nationwide attention because the alleged killer, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, was previously arrested on a drug charge and released from jail months before the shooting, despite a request from federal officials that he be held until they could pick him up. Sanchez has pleaded not guilty.

Figueroa's attorney, Saira Hussain of the nonprofit group Asian Americans Advancing Justice, said by phone it was a "possibility" that officers arrested her client because they were influenced by the controversy over the Sanchez case.

Sounds like he has a driver's license. In some States, that's used as a Voter ID for citizens and, in some States, for non-citizens also. Other States don't even require that much verification of citizenship. A utility bill or some such is considered enough as "proof of residency" there. California, though, is one of 18 States (38%) which don't require any ID at all to vote. [4um Ref.] State/city/district facilitation of illegal alien voters in our elections amounts to insurrection against our rightful form of government. Those States should be charged with that, as well as with vote fraud and attempted theft of however many legal votes were supposedly "outnumbered" so, then fined for compensatory costs. Their Electoral and Congressional votes should be disqualified and prohibited from any further distorting of America's governance by "Sanctuary policy", valid-voter vetting negligence or otherwise unlawful electioneering.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda !!! Ha ! This reasoning is psychotic mind bending bullshit based upon a non-existent premise ... that the Consti-stupid exists in our current so-called political system ... which in fact is commercial and doesn't bear any resemblance to its former self ! Continual whining about what should be only prolongs the tyranny !

All of this nonsense about sanctuary cities, valid voters (hahahaha !) disqualified voters and rightful form of government amount to irrelevant commentary focused to make others think that our Constitution and culture are simply inches away when in fact they are gone !

Gone, and never coming back without bloodshed ! The U.S. INC. is real and the democratic republic under the Constitution is a Stephen Spielberg, Dreamworks fabrication ! (You must be a consultant on this gatekeeper project).

The underlined items above are only acceptable as valid or of value for anything at all in a COMMERCIAL FUCKING SYSTEM !

EDIT: Geez, listen to your own commentary. It's lunacy !

Voting these days is condoning evil in the hopes of restoring good.

We need to take much more wind out of the guv piracy sails than that. I'm not advocating a driver's license as a valid Voter ID. That system is made worthless by the presumptuous "Sanctuary policymakers" and their wrongful, illegal alien harborings, provisionings and election-riggings. Some citizens couldn't even pass the vision tests, etc. to get one anyway.

Intersectionality Collides! Mobius as Marx or something. Jerry Brown phone home.

“I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I don’t care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. My affections, being concentrated over a few people, are not spread all over Hell in a vile attempt to placate sulky, worthless shits.” - William S Burroughs
