In the latest installment of our "Dear Bernie" series, posts intended to inform the Vermont Senator about the unintended, negative consequences of minimum wage hikes, we present SAM (Semi-Automated Mason), a brick laying robot designed and engineered by Construction Robotics out of New York. While SAM can do the work of 6 unionized masons each day, he never requires a break, benefits or a paycheck.

Here's a look at SAM in action:

That is really slick. But I'll bet that robot cannot do tuckpointing on an existing brick wall. ;)

Surely the Mexicans will have this "Sam" bitch outlawed.

Last year at wound clinic, they remodeled the restroom for the patients. It was a Mexican laying the floor tiles. Not sure how much they were paying him. But that is a high dollar clinic. My doctor there recently made a trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos by private airplane. He saw the tortoises. He said there were a lot of them. ;)

How did the floor turn out?

Good for straight, unobstructed brick runs, but not so great for anything else.

Plus, it appears to take quite a bit of time and detail to set it up.

Not too bad. At least it is level and the tiles are not cracking.

I go again next Tuesday. After that I think I will lose my Medicaid, so no state transport. But there is a taxi here in town that will take me for $60 round trip. Taxi from there wanted $200 to pick me up and take me to clinic and then drive me back home. Screw them, too darn expensive. ;)
