Why Washington Terror-Bombs Syria by Stephen Lendman
Its all about wanting regime change, another imperial trophy, pro-Western puppet rule replacing legitimate governance, and preventing conflict resolution talks from going anywhere.
Its also about wanting the country balkanized, northern and southern border areas separated from Damascus, perhaps further divisions planned to destroy the Syrian Arab Republic as it now exists, eliminate an Israeli rival, isolate Iran, ahead of efforts to replace its sovereignty with pro-Western puppet rule.
Its about redrawing the Middle East map, leaving Israel the dominant power along with Americas presence - a sinister scheme involving endless wars of aggression, mass slaughter and destruction, chaos and immiseration of millions.
Its how America, NATO, Israel, and their rogue allies operate, a Machiavellian agenda to eliminate all sovereign independent states, a scheme risking humanity-destroying nuclear war.
Thursdays US terror-bombing of Syrian and allied forces near At Tanf, close to Iraqi and Jordanian borders, was a willful act of aggression.
It had nothing to do with protecting nearby US and UK special forces operating illegally in Syrian territory, everything to do with preventing government forces from controlling the countrys southern border with Iraq and Jordan.
According to Lebanese General Charles Abi Nader, Washingtons goal is to prevent the restoration of transport links between Syria and Iraq, and also Iran
Sergey Lavrov minced no words, calling the strike illegitimate and unlawful
another harsh violation of Syrias sovereignty.
Its confirmation of (Washingtons) intention to use terrorist groups to achieve its objectives - ISIS, al-Nusra and others. America is coddling terrorists, not combating them.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov made similar comments, saying (a)ny military actions leading to the aggravation of the situation in Syria definitely affect the political process.
Especially if such actions are committed against the Syrian armed forces
This is totally unacceptable. It is a violation of Syrian sovereignty. Of course, it does not help the political process.
Russias upper house Federation Council International Affairs Committee chairman Konstantin Kosachev blasted the aggression, saying (y)ou cannot consider the US-led coalition airstrike against pro-government forces on Thursday an accident or a mistake anymore. This is a deliberate action, and its consequences are yet to be estimated.
This is not only an attack in Syria and against Syria, but also against Geneva (talks). The US is irritated that the Geneva process is not under its control and, what is worse, it can be successful.
Syrias UN envoy Bashar al-Jaafari called the attack a massacre committed by US aggression, supporting terrorism instead of combating it.
He accused Britain and France of complicity with US imperial aims, stressing state terrorism is being (committed) against our country, adding:
(O)nly the nuclear weapon is left to hit us (with) and accuse us of using it.
