Judge Roy Moore prevailed in the Alabama U.S. Senate primary election Tuesday night and will proceed to a runoff next month against Sen. Luther Strange.
With 90 percent of precincts reporting, Moore garnered 40 percent of the vote to Stranges 32 percent and Congressman Mo Brooks 20 percent.
The convincing win demonstrated Moores enduring popularity in the Yellowhammer State, where he was twice elected chief justice of the states Supreme Court.
